Durand hasn't played in three years, Cam Johnson played in like 6 games against inferior competition before his brittle body broke down; and Wilson is a frosh.

Is this going to be bubble city again?

Dixon needs some introspection.

We will be in top 25 most of the year next year. Durand would have averaged, at a minimum, 10PPG this year.

Plus Young, Artis, Jeter, Jones all get better in off-season.

Robinson just needs to basically be a game manager next year.

Any additions via JUCO and Freshman are total wild cards at this point. I like our chances

again, with our horrible D and athletically limited guards, how are we realistically going to challenge next year, not just get scrape into the tourney?

Frankly, if the team can improve defensively at all, this will be a Top 15 team. 2 go-to scorers (Young and Artis) and a good steady PG in Robinson. I know people aren't high on him, but with 2 guys who can average over 15 PPG, he is perfect. I think Chris Jones will be the GLF guy. Durand Johnson is ok but not a huge difference maker. He's like the fish your dad caught. Gets better as time goes on.

Durand is one pee test from being kicked off the team, and Cam and Wilson are mid range talents. The only way this team significantly improves is if they can somehow land Diallo, which is improbable.

I am sounding like a broken record, but are we expecting too much from a guy who hasn't played in 3 years and other players with average/poor shooting skills and limited athleticism? 2 horses pulled us all season and wore down. No one else helped except sporatically. 2 studs aint gonna do it

When did we ever have guards that were athletic freaks though?

Our best teams defensively were because we out rebounded people by 10+ each game.

What made those teams truly great was our guards rebounded extremely well.

Young can rebound (while still playing out of position all year).

Artis can rebound (same statement as Young).

Jeter can rebound.

Hopefully Nix can contribute something on that end.

I think we'll be fine. It sucks that we blew some games down the stretch but if you asked anyone on this board if we were going to win 8 or 9 ACC games after our non conf schedule NOBODY would have said yes. Our expectations changed, as they should have, after the UNC game. It sucks...but in all honesty we overachieved this year. Next year will be legit, I truly believe that.

The NyQuil is kicking in though...Hail To Pitt and everyone R-E-L-A-X

One of Cam J/ DJ /Wilson /Chris Jones is going to need to step up at the #2 spot. James just is not going to score. Jamel and Mike we know will and we should be fine at the #3. There's potential to be better offensively.

Hopefully, Wilson helps add another ball handler we can count on because Newkirk at this point just can't be trusted.

The other issue is will we be better defensively? That's going to be a challenge. So long as we are forced to have Mike at the #5 and Jamel at the #4, I think we're going to have problems. Even if Nix proves adequate, he's not going to start and not likely to play more than 20 minutes a game.

If, say DJ takes over the 3 I can't imagine we'd be worse there than with Jones and Jeter.

But we've had trouble with dribble penetration all year. With the #2 spot a big "?" and JRob being an average defender, the defensive problems are more likely to persist.

I can almost guarantee we'll be a good offensive team next year, even with our "lack of talent". Will we learn/add players that help us play defense and rebound?

Can't believe DJ will be much of a impact player next season. Sitting out just about 3-years is a long time and will bring a acclimation period. Recreation ball and structured team practices are night and day compared to game day play.
Really have no opinion on other players but would suspect the same as DJ. It will take time and experience. To get better
go out and develop the talent you have or go recruit some outstanding players.

Can you explain for me why anything you mentioned here suggests Dixon needs some introspection?

Are you talking about Artis and Young? What makes you say they wore down more than any player wears down over the course of the season? They have both improved dramatically over the course of the season.

His brittle body broke down? The kid needed surgery on a shoulder. It's not like he had 5 different injuries.
