When she was hired, I thought Susie would light it up here. But, the indisputable fact is that the program is regressing. Her best player transferred after last year and the rumors are that at least two players on this year’s team want out.
Assuming that she is fired, I love the CMU coach as her replacement. I know nothing about her except that with 45 seconds left against tOSU, she ran up and down the bench high-fiving everyone, including trainers and assistants. And, her post-game interview was as candid and interesting as any I have seen. No “Ohio State is a great team, but their shots just weren’t falling.” Instead “when we started to make a run in the 2nd quarter, you could see how tired their players were; hands on hips, bending over. So we just took it to them even harder. We exhausted them. And, then we played even harder.”
Lyke certainly has to know her. She is no youngster and maybe she wants to end her career at CMU. But, her team was very impressive. Moving the ball side to side, inside to outside, always making the extra pass to set up an even better shot. She definitely should be on the A list as a replacement.
