--Last night our Pitt Panther BB teams won the National-Championship-for-Turnovers. While the men's team had an uncharacteristic 19 turnovers, they couldn't match the women's team's effort with an astounding 26 turnovers.

--Pitt's starters accounted for 23 of the turnovers. Wonder if Coach Suzie has any hair left on her head today...

--Stasha Carey continues to be in a funk - she had 8 turnovers and no points. Yikes. She only took 3 shots. Double yikes.

--Aysia Bugg is struggling - she had another 6 turnovers to go with 5 the previous game.

--Syracuse has a veteran team and the Orange press was too much for the inexperienced Panthers. Not to mention Syracuse's good 6-4 Junior post player who shot 6 for 11, scored 15 points, and had 10 boards.

--The shame is that the rest of the Syracuse team shot poorly - but all the turnovers just gave the Orange so many more opportunities. The Orange took 72 shots to Pitt's 54.

--Another scary stat: Syracuse had 40 points off the bench -- Pitt had 6.

Definitely need those Sophs to turn into Juniors and those Freshmen to turn into Sophs. And a taller post player sure wouldn't hurt. Hopefully that is Coach Suzie's recruiting priority going forward.

Pitt is now 8 and 9 for the season. Might be able to win 3 or 4 of the remaining games.

Go Pitt.

If you watched the game (it was on ESPN3 at 7:00 last night, before the men's game) it was even uglier than the men's game. And that's saying a lot. A huge percentage of those turnovers were essentially unforced, players dribbling the ball straight into a double team, on more than one occasion passing the ball to someone who was being triple teamed, driving into the lane right into traffic with no plan on what to do with the ball, stuff like that. The Syracuse press got Pitt all out of sorts and once that happened Pitt never recovered the rest of the game.

By the way, not only was the final 71-48, but Pitt actually led 11-2 about 7-1/2 minutes into the game. It got really bad really fast after that.
