Women's team no match for Michigan

Pitt women clobbered by Michigan 82-45. When the teams played last season at the Pete, Pitt shot lights out and won handily. In fact, the first half of that game was probably the best half I have ever seen the women's team play.

Tonight Mich turned the tables shooting over 50%.

Yacine Diop scored 26 for Pitt on 12 for 15 shooting. Problem was the rest of the team was 7 for 32 (22%).
Also, Pitt had a whooping 24 turnovers and lost the rebound battle 39 to 25.

Pitt plays Holy Cross then Mt. St. Mary's before going to Princeton, for what will probably be another whipping.

Going to be tough beating any decent team with a team so young.

Ohhhh not good. Sad that they seem to be taking a step back and not forward. I knew they would miss Kiessel and Wignot? But didn't think it would be this bad.

Well--it is an old adage that the two most important positions on the court are the 1 and the 5. We lost a good 5 and a WNBA level 1. That is a huge loss. And without a decent 5 (6-3 or taller) we are almost 100% dependent on outside shooting. When you have an off shooting night you get what you get vs Michigan. It is going to be a long season.

A big post or two is a desperate recruiting need for next season, IMHO.
