Would poorly recruiting the WPIAL matter if recruiting overall was better?

I could type until my fingers fell off about how I think the WPIAL is overrated except for the select few that you know can have immediate impact. Western PA football is never going to be what it once was and will continue to slowly dry up like some other parts of the country. Similarly, Narduzzi’s porrous track record wouldn’t matter as much if he did a better job overall.

The question that we should be asking ourselves though is this; what’s worse for perception, losing a local kid or throwing for 8 yards on national television? That sounds like a bad video game statistic.

It sucks to lose a local guy but that’s hardly the biggest issue in Pitt’s consistent success.
