That's why people need to cut the crap with Pitting. All teams blow games in terrible fashion. We've had a run of them, but ask Tennessee how they feel this season.

Prayers for the punter and family. His life as he knew it yesterday and years prior to, will not be the same for the forseeable future. Problem is, unlike field goal kickers, chances to win a future game with a field goal won't be had. As a punter, he'll be able to flip field position with a 70 harder or coffin corner a punt inside the 5, but that's about it. For the most part, he can't make up the blunder. Tough!!
Michigan is still an improving program, Harbaugh is a good coach, but that's it, a really good coach at best. I really don't see the love affair with this guy, his brother is a far superior football coach and I don't think it's even close. Beat him head to head in the Super Bowl to prove it.
Why in the world did he do that though? Just fall on the ball there were clearly defenders around. It looked like he wanted to pick it up and run forward or toss the ball. The snap didn't look great, but not unordinary for a punter to handle those. Really tough break though, unfortunately for the kid, it's been all over ESPN.
Why punt in that situation - just run a play. A running play will take 4-5 seconds and if you do not make a first down, there will be time for 1 play. Better to defend a 50-yard pass attempt than risk a punt block or what we saw. Bad coaching decision.
Nice Hindsight and Harbaugh without a doubt now feels the same, especially since it cost him his 10 Win Season unless he wins all the rest including OSU? Dantonio is smiling!
He was trying to punt the ball. Which was a dumb thing to do, but it's clearly what he was attempting.
It's only hindsight for people who didn't think that was the correct play all along.
Yeah, punting it when the LOS is on the opponent's side of the field was pretty dumb. Ten seconds left, just run an off tackle play and you take off 3-5 seconds. Not enough time to get an offensive play and get into field goal range. You would only punt it if the LOS is already in field goal range.
I was at that game.. that as an all around ugly day.. Was a student a wvu, spend pre-game in "the Pit," you could just sense something bad was gonna happen after that game... Felt bad for anyone wearing Miami gear leaving mountaineer stadium that night..
