Sure we landed guys over the past decade, dudes. AD, Boyd, etc... And you all know I am as vocal as any on how the local scene really sucks now as far as producing talent.
But your backyard is the most likely placer to land 4-5 star kids. So as I am want to do, I decided to put this to a ledger and see who we are doing. Locally. I am just using the Rivals site for comparison, but the I am counting the top 5 WPIAL-City kids and where they went or likely will go to school.
Rankings for Rivals PA state in parenthesis
2019:
Andrew Kristofic (5) OT Pine Richland. Notre Dame
MJ Devonshire (6) CB Aliquippa. Kentucky. Now at Pitt
Joey Porter Jr (11) CB North Allegheny. Penn State
Kyi Wright (16) Athlete. Farrell. Pitt
Wil Gipson (17) WR. Aliquippa. Pitt
Obviously not a strong class, though Porter likely could be a 1st rd pick.
2020:
Michael Carmody (2) OT Mars. Notre Dame
Dayon Hayes (3) DL Westinghouse. Pitt
Zuriah Fisher (4) LB. Aliquippa. PSU
Aaron Beatty (5). DE. Central Catholic UNC
Josh Rawlings (12) TE. Woodland Hills UVa
Another example of how the mighty have fallen. Where there really any drag out national recruiting battles for any of these guys?
2021:
Elliot Donald (5) DT Central Catholic Pitt
Derrick Davis (6) DB. Gateway. LSU
Nahki Johnson (7) DL. West Mifflin. Pitt
Donavon MacMillan. (8) DB. Peters. Florida
Dorien Ford (12) OL. Baldwin. Pitt.
This might be the deepest class in the WPIAL and PA in years.
2022:
Ty Fearby (12) LB. Perry. Kentucky
Jalen Klemm (15) OL. Pine Richland. Kansas State
Donavan Finish. (18) DL. Central Catholic Notre Dame
Sean Fitzsimmons (20) DL Central Valley Pitt
Patrick Body. (23). DB. Gateway. Cinci
An earth shattering bad local class. Probably the worst ever since playing football.
2023:
Ta'mere Robinson (1) LB Brashear. PSU
Lamont Payne (4) DB Char Valley. PSU
Rodney Gallagher (5) WR. Laurel Highlands (not Pitt) likely PSU
Brayden Lovelace (23) LB. Leechburg. Pitt
Jordan Mayer. (25) DE. Thomas Jefferson. Wisconsin
Yeah....this makes me feel good.
2024:
Quinton Martin (1) Athlete. Belle Vernon National Recruit. I would give Pitt almost a zero chance
Anthony Speca (6). LB. Central Catholic. National recruit. Less than 10% chance Pitt
Cameron Lindsay (10) LB Aliquippa. ?????????
Peter Gonzalez. (23). WR. Central Catholic. Pitt 60/40??
Ryan Coury (25) OT. Pine Richland. ???
The top 2 are as two most recruited WPIAL kids in years. Likely neither will be Pitt.
We are doomed. Out best local kids are pushing us away. And there are less and less of them.
