2022 might be lean, but sounds like 2023 & 2024 should be pretty good. Just saw on twitter we offered a 2024 (freshman) player from Belle Vernon. Also, PCC has a freshman starting at LB, Anthony Speca, and the QB from Penn Hills, Dugger. The Jeanette QB has been talked about here also. Plus the 2023 class with Robinson (I think that's his name, kid from Brashear) & Gallagher. This might be one time where the lock down works to our advantage in that it limits recruiting trips to packed stadiums at other schools...

Narduzzi doesn't get local kids. That said the kids you mention go to schools where Pitt has a shot. They have no shot at kids from the rich schools plus Gateway and McKeesport

Here we go again with this rich school crap. We've gotten players from Fox Chapel, Mount Lebanon, Pine Richland, Upper Saint Clair, etc. all recently.

Who on the Pitt staff is responsible for recruiting the WPIAL? We do not have anyone with a "local" background on staff, do we? I know Terry Smith could never win a WPIAL championship at Gateway but he did win a lot of games and probably earned respect from his peers, and having him on staff I'm sure helps Franklin recruit the WPIAL.

Probably will never be what it once was, but still some good players here.

Even in the glory days, there was no fence. Nits got their fair share, as did ND and OSU (I remember being pretty upset when the tight end, John Franks, committed to OSU). Thing was back then if you got 60-70% of the locals it probably represented about 12-14 kids a year and you fielded a decent team. Now if you get 60-70% it is probably only 4 or 5 that are P5 level players, if that much

Again, very few with similar or better offers. Yes, if a kid from USC has to choose between Pitt, Syracuse, or the MAC, he's going to Pitt.

Bookser could have went anywhere. Houy had Louisville and arguably Penn State. Zeise had a WVU offer. It's just too small of a sample size to make any blanket conclusions.

Pitt has done pretty well this year with the wpial recruits they have gotten. The fact is there are not as many D1 players as years ago and the local area still gets recruited hard by all the big time schools. Notre Dame has hurt Pitt coming in taking some good OL players the last few years. It;s just the case some kids want to leave the area and some have been raised rooting for certain schools. The big campuses and Pitt being a city school. Pitt will still get its share.
