Wtf kickoff times with an 11am game vs Ohio

I have a feeling we will get relegated to 11am kickoffs for our OOC games going forward. Simply put, less people paying to get the ACC Network want to see Pitt vs the other schools.

ACCN will air 14 live football games over the first three weeks showcasing 11 conference teams, 10 home openers and five conference matchups. All three weeks will feature at least four games on ACCN, with Weeks 1 and 2 carrying five games. Highlighting Week 2 is a four-game slate that features Miami at North Carolina in a Coastal Division clash in primetime at 8 p.m. ET.

Date Time (ET) Game Network
Week 1
Thu, Aug. 29 8 p.m. Georgia Tech at Clemson ACCN
Fri, Aug. 30 8 p.m. Utah State at Wake Forest ACCN
Sat, Aug. 31 Noon East Carolina at NC State ACCN
4 p.m. Virginia Tech at Boston College ACCN
7:30 p.m. Virginia at Pitt ACCN

Week 2
Fri, Sept. 6 8 p.m. William & Mary at Virginia ACCN
Sat, Sept. 7 11 a.m. Ohio at Pitt ACCN
2 p.m. South Florida at Georgia Tech ACCN
5 p.m. Louisiana-Monroe at Florida State ACCN
8 p.m. Miami at North Carolina ACCN

Week 3

I think it's fair to say, pitt will get our share (and then some) of those 11am kickoffs at Heinz..

That’s actually kinda awesome to be honest
That's kinda true, I never really minded the abundance of 9 AM kick-offs, get it out of the way, it does leave the whole rest of the weekend free and happy celebrating Panther wins!

Remember, it was your very own SMF that said the ACCN should do 11AM games often to get 4 games in. Damn I'm good at this TV stuff. It's really very simple you see. The Pirates are home that night so we have to start at 1PM or earlier. The ACCN wants 4 games that day as there are many ACC FCS scrimmages that week that I would imagine end up as stream-only on ACC Network Extra. So, sure, I guess Pitt fans would have preferred a noon or 1PM stream-only but the ACC said they want us on National TV at 11AM. Truthfully, I would have thought they would have went with ODU @ VT for the national 11 AM game but I guess that's getting ACC Network Extra along with EKU @ Lou, WCU @ NC State, and Richmond @ BC. They are also doing W&M @ UVa on Friday night. As you can see, it was a pretty good move by ACCN. I think there should be a quadruple-header with 11AM games almost every week but with each school only having 1 per season. The ACC is the only conference that doesn't have 11AM kicks.

Honestly I thought immediately of you and share your opinion. I like 11am starts but completely understand why others dont.

Big 12 and Big Ten teams play 11 a.m. games regularly, including high profile conference games. Take a look at Wisconsin, Nebraska or Texas’ schedule when it comes out. Heck, the Red River Rivalry between OU and Texas is played at 11 a.m. local time in Dallas every year. It’s really only a big deal at a place like Pitt where fans obsess over game times.

other fan bases hate it too. Some school made a parody song-video about it.

All of you that claim to be soccer fans, should love the 11AM kick. Just pretend like it is English Premier League on Sunday morning. Maybe Pitt can market it like that. Give away scarves in the colors of the new kit to all of the fans who come out to cheer their club on the pitch.

So they scheduled 3 hours for every game, but the average college football game is almost 3.5 hours. 20 second play clock, NFL halftime, less commercials, only 3 quarters?

Will the ACC network have multiple channels on providers so games that go too long don't interfere with my viewing or will it be a situation where we might miss a quarter of a game while the previous game finishes up

Basically what happens every time pitt hoops is a 9pm tip off.

It would be just awful to miss a quarter of the game you want to watch because of the previous game. You should at least be able to watch your game on ACC Extra when it starts.

But what would there be to complain about?

Hm. Between this and losing of the no-star Center in hoops, not been a great couple days for positivity on the lair. Oh, I guess we did get that walkon running back.

When do our Lacrosse games (is that what they are called?) get broadcast on the new network? I'll want to DVR ... anything else.

Seriously, who cares, 11 is a good time, even better than a noon, really. With a garbage opponent like that (I know, Wanny is 0-1 against em), the game will be ripe for leaving as early as 1230 or 1 (assuming we're winning big, or, gulp, losing). And that leaves a whole Saturday left to enjoy. All yinz who love the campus so much, can head up there for some O fries and Dave n Andy's, maybe catch a lacrosse match, or meet, or whatever it's called :D

I think there was a game against Utah at 11. I seem to recall a west coast team beating us with an 11am start time. Or maybe it was even Notre dame a few years back. I forget.

Also the SEC and the Pac 12 teams in the Mountain Time Zone.

I have also been saying ESPN should do like a 9AM or 10AM MAC or Sun Belt game. That will happen eventually.

Just don't over sleep.Seems I remember a couple other 11am starts. I might be wrong, but wasn't there a backyard brawl with a 11am start? Seems a game v Louisville may have been one as well.

The Pitt - Penn State game on Thanksgiving Day in 1991 started at 11 AM. It was not well attended.

The first Thanksgiving in 1621 began at 11 am, and was not well attended.
If I can remember there were 90 people in total including 53 Pilgrims with the remainder being Native Americans.

They did blame the Pirates for the early start time and had parking issues.

It just never ends!
