WVU

Is this good for Pitt ONLY assuming West Virginia goes on to make the tournament??

Special thanks to Mark Few for somehow not understanding that if you take a guy out of the game you can't put him back in until time has run off the clock.

That move may have cost them the game, and for a guy who has been coaching as long as he has to not know the rule (and none of his assistants either knew or felt that they could speak up and tell him that he was screwing it up) is kind of mind-boggling.

This basically assures that WVU will finish as at least a q2 win given strength of big 12. Right now WVU was a q3 win for Pitt but it’s quad 1/2 wins that will matter for tourney. We don’t want WVU to actually make tourney tjough as that is one less spot.

I have 30 bids for the Power 3 so whether WVU makes it or not doesn't really matter as they'd just take Oklahoma's or someone like that's spot.

In your tournament, that may be true. But the NCAA tournament folks may see it differently.

Great win for them, resume booster for us. I worry about our team though with the loss of Dunn going into ACC play. If he didn’t go down we would have beat Wisconsin imo. Fingers crossed that we do enough without his defensive presence in conference play to get a bid. H2P

Dunn should only miss 3 or 4 ACC games
Duke game (4th) is 6 weeks from yesterday
Challenge is upcoming OSU and MSU games

Yeah, but even if he comes back for the Duke game he's going to need a while to get back up to game speed. He's not going to come back and be the player he was pre-injury right on day one.

If we could hold serve and be 12-3 and 3-1 in conference when he returns, then we’ll be in great shape.

True but He should be able to run given his ankle will heel before his thumb so I hope he will be in pretty good shape

Capel said he hopes his ankle heals before his thumb do the ankle injury does seem significant. I don't think Dunn will be doing a ton in practice for at least 6 weeks.
