YouTubeTV

This seems too good to be true.
It's true. And it's actually $30+ NZD for a year.
These subscriptions are sold through resellers, so the paranoid me uses a prepaid debit card to pay for it to avoid hacking. I'd stream through a VPN in case your ISP throttles your speeds for streaming content outside of their cartel.
I took my fire stick to a work mates place last weekend. He's an Oregon grad and was desperate to watch the game. CBS is not available on any legitimate streaming platform in NZ. He was amazed at the content available. So much that he joked (I think) that he was going to come over to my house when I'm working and steal my fire stick. He's a nightmare with computers and tech. I'm getting him a fire stick loaded up with the IPTV app and subscription for Christmas to keep him from taking mine.
His Dad grew up in McKees Rocks so he is a Steelers fan. He's like me watching sports. His Dad is a Pitt fan.

Yeah so the TV that I watch almost all of my programs is an 18 y/o Pioneer - but I *do* have a Chromecast hooked on it and have been able to throw content from the ESPN ap - on occasion to it but it's not always reliable and I lose it on that TV.

But I thought - incorrectly that you had to have ESPN+ in order to access ACCNX - and *then* I could use the ESPN ap to view it.

So as a result, I just watch the ACCNX games on my desktop.
My other LG smart TV doesn't have the ESPN ap either - or at least not where I can see.
My bedroom LG TV is like 18yrs also but you can put any smart device on it. Roku and other smart devices are fairly cheap nowadays. I've also gotten free devices over the years.

Xfinity offers their streaming device for free because they pretty much want to gather your data and sell it to advertisers.

Yeah, Hula+LiveTV is one option that immediately came to mind. Their pricing was always similar to YouTubeTV though so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a similar increase from them.

Hulu + LiveTV is around $100/mo. now. I've had Hulu + LiveTV for a while. I love it but it's getting pricey too.

I want to also get PSN and Hulu doesn't have that. I was thinking of going to Fubo which starts at $79.99/mo. I think.

Fubo is good
But I think it lacks espnu in my area

That's not true - if I *just* had the ACCN and *not* ESPN+ - I couldn't watch last night's game - Live - nor the next one with SH as examples.

I have the ACCN on YTTV and the only way I could watch last night's game - and others was by having ESPN+.
Any Pitt games on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNNews - yeah, I get all of those on YTTV without ESPN+.

But for the ACCNExtra (ACCNX) I have to have ESPN+ to watch those particular games.
I have Comcast and could not get the majority of Pitt’s basketball pre season games because they were on ESPN+ or ACCN+

You have access to every single home game an ACC team (any sport) with Comcast. Some of those are stream-only on the ESPN app, branded as ACCNX or ACC Extra.

If your streaming provider has ACCN you can watch ACCN+ games through the ESPN app on a smart TV or device. Go to settings in the ESPN app and log in with your Fubo, YTTV, or other provider credentials. When you search programs in the ESPN app, you still can’t access ESPN+ but anything marked ACCN+ you can watch.

I just figured this out for the E Kentucky game myself.

Thanks Biden. I assume these prices will begin to drop after January 20.

The good news is that this made me look up my Verizon Fios account, which I have YTTV bundled through and learned I can get Netflix and HBO Max for $10 total per month so that saves me a couple bucks. So when this Biden price increase goes through, I'll be at $187 for Fios, YTTV, Netflix, and HBO.

We looked into that yesterday...even though it has ads, which are annoying but not that bad, my sister in law said it limited some of the things she wanted to watch on Netflix, so we went with the $18.50 combo thru Verizon (both but without ads). It was still cheaper than doing them separately at $31.

Also, I get the Pirates channel on Pgh SportsNet and NFL RedZone with Verizon, so if you pay extra for them on YTTV, it's around the same cost after taxes.

Just kind of checked my local cable and to get pretty much the equivalent of what YTTV gives me would be $135 a month.

I did the math and it looks like I'm only saving $14 with YouTubeTV over cable, when I made the switch it was around a $40 difference.

The advantage is no equipment and additional fees
Don’t know about you - paying for two DVRS service with cable still has it far cheaper -
Plus no cancellation fees

You have to compare total bill to total bill - not the base rate .

And the DVR is unlimited, though its not really a DVR and I'm surprised there hasnt been some class action lawsuit regarding that. I like it better than cable but lets say you have a classic movie you want to keep on your YTTV or a classic Pitt game, it will be deleted in about a year. The movie may get added back once TNT or some channel re-airs it but the sporting event will not. Is this a big deal? Not really.

Some playoff games are on TNT/Max next Sat...if you have Fubo you better have Max.

We just tried that Netflix and HBO Max deal and now we lost all our HBOs...just have the Max app. That's BS...we are switching back on Monday.

Who did you have HBO channels through? And why would it matter if you just got the Max app and lost the channels? Everything on the channels is on the app

Through Verizon. Wife said she can't watch Hard Knocks with the Steelers on it.

You absolutely can watch Hard Knocks on Max.
Yeah agreed. She now says she liked having those HBO channels on Verizon to be able to DVR, because the controls are better than the app. That's not worth an extra $11/mo so bye bye.

Not sure how the ads are, have to wait to see when it takes effect at next billing, but we put up with it on Paramount +, Prime and Peacock. Chose to pay an extra $8.50/mo for Netflix Standard without ads...you are limited on what you see with the ads version (their live stuff, many of their original programming, etc.)
