New Commit

It’s mason heintschel,#71 ranked QB from Ohio

Not to trash a recruit, but really need to step things up. Narduzzi showed promise when he was first hired, now the recruiting is just kind of meh. Portal/transfer recruiting has been decent, but still can't totally ignore high school. Or maybe you can in today's game, who knows.

Found quite a few plays like this. Seems like he likes to make plays out of structure.

In the last six recruiting classes, our high school quarterbacks have a COMBINED total of one other power conference offer. That almost feels difficult to pull off.

That’s how you end up rolling the dice on Boston College rejects that graded out as one of the 10 worst pocket passing QBs even before you took him, and a project from Alabama whose early feedback from Bama was so bad he went from an elite ranked recruit to a 3* that people were saying should switch to H-Back.

You can’t miss this badly at HS recruiting, because portal just isn’t going to make up for it.

But it’s only March. His ranking by the fall could skyrocket. Somebody always has to be the first P5 to offer.

3 star recruiting equals 7-8 win programs.

10 years with Narduzzi, we are the 3 star school of the decade.

It could, but quarterback is usually a position that is on a much earlier recruiting timeline than the others.

I don't even hate this dude's tape or anything; it just seems amazingly par for the course as of late to not at least beat out *a few* P4 schools for a QB's services.

How many P4s run a Kade Bell offense?

In today’s transfer and NIL environment it’s unrealistic to expect Pitt to sign highly rated QBs. Especially since they have a five star kid on the bench and a true frosh

Then I have no idea what your point is?

Tenn is talked about as a veer and shoot outlier because it’s a veer and shoot outlier.
Tenn is talked about due to its uptempo play. Kade will have uptempo as well.

No. Tenn is talked about because it runs a Veer and Shoot. Part of that is their tempo. So of course that will be part of the discussion. But that’s not the only thing talked about. Their unique splits are talked about just as much, and actually are unseen in almost all of college football.

But tempo isn’t unique. At least Duke, SMU, UNC, and Wake just in the ACC will run some form of tempo. Either get plays snapped as fast as possible (SMU being the extreme of that) or at least get lined up as fast as possible, and then either snap it or look to the coach to call a play based on what alignment the quick tempo forced the defense to get in.

But I’m still not sure what your point was? Assuming tempo is unique in P4 football, it require a unique QB trait that other P4 coaches aren’t looking for because they don’t run tempo? If that was what you were getting at, what is the trait?

You can get solid depth in the portal. The portal is a good place to get college ready bodies. So guys that, weight and muscle wise, at least belong on the field.

It’s a horrible place to land high end talent though, unless you’re going to spend a ton of money. Pitt isn’t landing Jordan Addison in the portal because by the time he’s available in the portal, he’s already become Jordan Addison.
And there isn’t a ton of high end talent anyway. 247 rated only 38 players with even a 93+ college ranking. Which is another reason why what talent there is, is so expensive.

High school recruiting is even more important to Pitt compared to an Ole Miss, because special seasons require Kenny Pickett type talents. And Pitt can’t just buy 5* college rated Walter Nolan in the portal.
