I agree. You can do it for a week or maybe 2 or 3, but your warts are going to start to show even in games you win convincedly. But, to think coaches have some magical power to drastically overachieve for a season is just a pipe dream.

Back when Chryst or Graham was the coach, I remember being at practice and saying to myself this looks no different then being at a practice at Towson, JMU, Delaware, etc. The floor at that time was really low. I thought the same thing at spring practices this year. I was shocked we ran up the record we ran for the 1st half of the season tbh.
Pederson cooler effect.

If everyone needs to get on board with this garbage better it just go away. Will never give a dime to any NIL. Ever.

Go ahead and bash me all you want. I get it. You see me as part of the problem. I’m perfectly ok with it. There are hundred and probably thousands of entities more worthy of giving money to.

Being a college coach is more akin to being a CEO, though. You're a big part of the equation when it comes to the talent you have to work with. You're the GM and the coach.

I understand that NIL plays a role. I also understand that we typically find ways to scrap together defensive talent yet we don't do the same on offense. Perhaps a coach who doesn't admit to devoting 85% of his time (or whatever the number he gave was) to one side of the ball would be best.

Georgia Tech is currently 17th in recruiting rankings. I can't be convinced they have some seismic NIL advantage over us. Maybe don't alienate the entire local recruiting base.

Why? No one needs to do anything. Let the universities pay them out of their own pockets or let the players get paid endorsements or find other means of making money if they want to be professionals. You are part of the mess that is college sports if you contribute to this.
