Not everything is about money. But who knows.I can't see it. Too much money to walk away from
Most of those points he scored were against Austin in the 2nd half as Leggett was in foul trouble and not even guarding him. Granted, he scored on 4 different Pitt players yesterday including Guillermo. You can rewatch the full highlight tape or game on youtube.
The thing that crippled Pitt more than anything, we gave up 9 offensive rebounds yesterday and we gave up 11 2nd chance points yesterday. We scored a total of 4 second chance points. You give an Elite offensive team like Wisconsin chance after chance at some point they will burn you. And as Ive said multiple times, Dunn stinks on the glass. He is Fede level bad on the boards and one of the reasons his PT went down at Houston.
The team defensive effort was poor overall in the 2nd half either because of tired legs or just poor intensity, Wisconsin wanted it more. Guys were not getting back in transition defense and Lowe had trouble with dribble penetration all game long and we were getting killed with dumps, kickouts, etc.. You can also blame Guillermo because he continues to be too slow closing out on 3 point shooters as he is more concerned with protecting the interior. He and our team have been burnt by this almost every game.
Next game out, lets make it a huge point of emphasis to not let the opposing team have twice as many offensive rebounds as us. And maybe if we also rebounded better, we would have scored more than a paltry 6 points in transition, which also stinks.
Pitt has always been a stopping point. Remember Majors and Sherill? And what's interesting is that both of them would comment later that they wished they had stayed at Pitt.PN is from the old generation of coaches. He may be one of the youngest of that old generation, but in fit and finish he's a guy from yesteryear. He has more in common with the Sherill/Paterno generation than the Sark/Riley/Day guys. Those old-school kind of guys not only aren't going to thrive in the new world of college football, but they are going to actively detest it. Hell, I actively detest it. That said, they owe him a ton of money, and as dumb as I think he is sometimes he's not walking away from that. I would imagine that at some point they will negotiate a settlement and he'll retire. And he and everyone else will breathe a sigh of relief.
The problem is, once he goes, Pitt just becomes a stopping point for guys that are hopefully on the way up. That is inevitable.
Ga Tech has a decent NIL game. Stoudamire just landed a Top 10 basketball recruit for the class of 26. Their NIL budget in football alone is over $5 million. Geoff Collins landed some nice talent there, tbh. Collins must have been star-chasing when it came to Jeff Sims though, because I have no clue what he saw there.I would base my choices on who I think would succeed at Pitt. I think Dabo and Cristobal need recruiting resources they couldn’t get at Pitt.
I would pick Key. He seems to have GT heading in the right direction and has what some rank as the second best recruiting class in the ACC coming in. He is at a school which has a similar footprint to Pitt — an urban school in a state where it is number 2 behind a state school with a much larger student body and far more recent success. I have seen 3 of their games on video this year and they appear to be very well coached. Moreover, his offensive and defensive game plans were significantly adjusted to matchup better with the opponent.
They never had a decent O-line the entire time he was there. He did it all on his own.I seem to remember with him at PSU is he would bust the big runs/returns and make the splashy play but also get tackled for a lot of 1 and 2 yard gains. There were several games his last year where he didn't break 100 yards. It seems like this year he is finally putting it all together.
I also remember how strange it was so many posters here were fawning over Barkley that year. PSU envy at its finest.
Since I quit wagering on games, I don't follow the gambling sites anymore. Where is the current $ going on this game? That might have something to do with the spread. It should go higher if the books need to get more bet on Pitt to even things outI'd be shocked if - after losing four games in a row and looking like they all but quit in the last one - Pitt is able to pull it together to go win on the road, with a backup QB, against a team that has as much or more talent and is actually playing pretty well lately. I can't make sense of this line only being 3.5.
You know, it's kind of funny as I think back to the Youngstown State game - when Duzz wore a short sleeved white shirt and royal blue tie in honor of his dad. He may have coached the best game of the year that afternoon. Granted, it was against the Penguins, but he looked more the part of a HC and seemed even more involved in the play-by-play of the game. Maybe he should dress like his dad more often? It’s a 1-2 combo between NIL and the Transfer Portal that is a free for all with no guard rails. Coaching isn’t the same as it used to be when Narduzzi started a long time ago.
I think Nate was pretty banged up after the Clemson loss. He got sacked, what, 8 times? As Pitt (Narduzzi) never lets on with complete transparency the extent or any detail of his player's injuries, we fans have just got to guess. Which is what my first sentence is ... a guess
It’s a 1-2 combo between NIL and the Transfer Portal that is a free for all with no guard rails. Coaching isn’t the same as it used to be when Narduzzi started a long time ago.I think so. Narduzzi has been oft quoted that he dislikes the whole aspect of recruiting in the day and age where the final decisions by the top/ most talented recruits are made by how much money they'll get to play in college. I am pretty sure that Duzz was more OK when the $ was given "under the table", but now it is so obvious that the 4 and 5 star players are going to the schools that have the cash/donors
