That is why i was AGAINST Holstein starting because i knew against better teams we wouldn’t have chance if they started dropping back 7 in coverage and he IS NOT the passer that Yarnell. He’s a better thrower than Yarnell but not a better passer and for this offense to maximize their talent you need a passer who can make more than 2 progressions. I been SAYING IT FOR 2 YEARS NOWThe thing that fans have to remember is you must win games NOW. That's what was so frustrating last season. There were decisions that could have been made to give Pitt a better chance of winning. If Yarnell plays the whole season, I believe that Pitt would have finished 6-6 or 7-5 at worse.
Now the team is faced with another dilemma of sorts. What if Holstein struggles early in the Virginia game and the Panthers are down? What does the staff do? Do they ride it out and keep Holstein in the game? Or do they make a change that would create a spark on offense by inserting Yarnell?
I say you have to do what is necessary to win NOW. Holstein may be the future, but we don't know if he'll be here down the road. NIL and the portal has changed everything. That should include game day decisions. You have to win now and not think about the future.
A agree about his future being bright. He’s just getting his feet wet. Whole lot of football ahead of him. Only a fool would be giving up on him after a couple of rough performances as a freshman. He still might be just fine as a college quarterback. But there are certain things that make me question that.
My opinion is this: he needs some heavy training this offseason to try and refine various parts of his game. His footwork sucks; he dances and often doesn't even step toward his target. His touch on short passes is not good. His pocket presence... well, tough to tell because our line sucks, but he kept moving out of the pocket without purpose last night and taking away half the field.
Sometimes QBs take well to that stuff, and sometimes it ruins them mentally. So it's all to be determined.
Textbook example of oxymoronic......If billionaire David Miller wants to keep Lashlee, he will. Nobody can outbid him within reason.
Wow. You are nuts. This isn’t a loss. An undefeated team competing and losing by a score or two is a loss or a reality check. This is a humiliating total delegitimization of the football program.
Watching the game and how Eli was struggling just throwing the short passes, I wondered if he is fully recovered from his Syracuse game concussion. Can’t argue with that analysis. I see the same thing. Especially the fact he doesn’t step towards his target. That’s why his ball hits the turf too often. His bad footwork causes passes to go off target, especially high.
I know that Yarnell threw two TD passes in mop up time, but his passes were much sharper and he got the ball out quickly.
Pitt wasn't getting into the B10 no matter what. There is a Penn State problem that can't be overcome.I've said many times that there aren't building a stadium. If I'm being obsessed, then it's about the reality of what would have been best and they chose not to do it. Something you often do here by pointing out mistakes Pitt has made.
My view is that they made too many blunders and because of those, their window for getting into the Big 10 is closed. So it really doesn't matter what they do now. It's only a matter of time.
