This is the per carry average the defense allowed against YSU. Folks I don't care how you slice it, that's dominant. They were on the field for nearly 38 mins. When the QB couldn't drop back and just cut it loose he was running for his life. Most of his passes were very short and quick route so the line couldn't get pressure. This defense is getting better each week and I think they will be ready to stomp NC.

Rankings this early in the season are meaningless right?

Wrong. The rankings have an effect on perception and momentum. Early rankings impact the playoff race regardless of the playoff pool size.

Every year I am annoyed by early season rankings, especially after a ranked team loses an early game.

My proposal is baking in a couple of qualifiers to the polls to introduce a little more parity to the system.

Rule #1:
No team with a loss can be ranked ahead of a team without a loss

Rule #2:
No team can be ranked ahead of a team it has lost to unless that team has more Ls in the L column.

Rule #3:
Voters vote for a top 25 with no qualifiers on who they rank. A computer model ranks teams 25-134.

Rule #4:
After the model and votes are in the teams are ranked in accordance with rules 1-3.

Some might argue that teams should be ranked based on how talented the teams are. This argument makes sense to a degree but if the polls have any impact on the playoffs then in fact the rankings should be a reflection of results as opposed to measure of talent.

The playoffs have expanded such that they are more akin to the Basketball tournament, teams need to Win to get in.

I think I have seen very close to every Pitt play so far. And I haven’t seen very many dropped passes at all so far. It has been pretty remarkable. Would like to know what the official number of drops are.

This is the total amount of points scored in 2023. With a good offensive showing we can beat that in less that half a season. If Pitt just hits the season overage so far they will beat last year's total point output.

He deserves to get more touches. Reid and Carter would be a good duo.

Just talked to a guy who has just about every connection you can have at Pitt, family of football player, donor, alumni himself and he has heard someone rumblings of... an on campus stadium near the VA. Says they are funding for the permits right now and if everything goes to play the building will begin in 2026 for an 2028 open. Again take as you wish just what I was told.

Wow - SMU beating up TCU.

Mezzo squeaks by Vandy in 2OT.

Miami/USF looks like it will be a good game.

During the (I think) Miami game tonight, Riddick gave Pitt and our new QB a plug. He said something to the effect that something good is happening in western Pennsylvania and the University of Pittsburgh is back...and mentioned Eli. I just hope he's right?
