There has been a major shakeup in the University of Pittsburgh athletic department.

E.J. Borghetti is well-recognized as one of the top sports information directors in college athletics, serving as the executive associate athletic director for communications and working in the department for nearly 30 years, but he is taking a new position at the University. His official title will be Special Assistant to the Senior Vice Chancellor for External Relations.

Borghetti and seven others have been named to the Pitt External Relations leadership team, which has a goal to "amplify our public impact and accelerate strategic goals by aligning key externally facing functions." The leadership team will also be tasked with advancing the "Plan for Pitt 2028". It's an initiative that plans to "elevate the University's national visibility and reputation, driving public impact and executing a successful comprehensive campaign."

Borghetti had the following statement in the release:

“Working on behalf of Pitt Athletics was the realization of a childhood dream. Having the opportunity to serve the university’s broader mission is an extension of that dream. I’m incredibly honored to join the External Relations Leadership Team and continue serving the great people of Pitt.”

University President Joan Gabel recently had this to say about the newly formed team:

"By integrating these predominantly outward-facing functions, we will align our engagement and maximize our public impact to connect with audiences and elevate partnerships across campus and with alumni, industry, and the public sector. As we prepare for the launch of our comprehensive campaign — a key initiative of the Plan for Pitt 2028 — this approach will undoubtedly serve the University well."

Three Pitt Panthers are on the College Football Hall of Fame ballot for the class of 2026.

Aaron Donald, Matt Cavanaugh and Craig "Ironhead" Heyward.

Donald is probably going to be a first-ballot guy. Cavanuagh and Heyward have been on the ballot for a while now, and with 79 players and nine coaches on the ballot at the FBS rank, I think both will continue to wait.

Pitt has 20 CFB Hall of Fame members right now, with Larry Fitzgerald joining the ranks most recently in the class of 2024, and the list includes: Ruben Brown, Len Casanova, Jimbo Covert, Averell Daniell, Tom Davies, Mike Ditka, Joseph Donchess, Tony Dorsett, Bill Fralic, Hugh Green, Marshall Goldberg, Johnny Majors, Dan Marino, Mark May, Herb McCracken, George McLaren, Robert Peck, Joe Schmidt, Joe Skladany, Herb Stein, John Sutherland, Joseph Thompson, Hube Wagner and Pop Warner.

Except for the owner of the Penguins is there a more hidden person than Green. What has he done since he has been here, does he go to functions, is he doing fund raising, just to quiet for me. Don’t think he is promoting Pitt that much.

Jaydon Dunbar has flipped an official visit from June 5-7 from Georgia to Pitt, he announced today. Dunbar (6-5, 175bs) was previously slated to visit Pitt from June 19-21 but called it off. He's an intriguing prospect, one that offers a contrast from the wideouts the coaching staff has recruited of late.

His other OVs include Duke, Mississippi State and Kansas State.

Anthony Johnson joined Pitt in an unofficial recruiting assistant role after his playing career ended prematurely last season, but his stay in Pittsburgh will be a short one. He's joined Michigan as a recruiting analyst.
