UNC Mini Report

I love the UNC matchup. Definitely not great at all inside. Jaylen Washington and Jae'Lyn Withers is...rough at center. F Ven Allen Lubin has been a good rebounder for them but no where near Lampkins level. For the guards, they have RJ Davis and Elliot Cadeau. RJ Davis has had a bit of a fall off in ACC play this year, going into today ( where he did have 22 ) was averaging 13 PPG, 4 REB, 4 AST, 28% From 3. Cadeau 8/3/5, 29% From 3. Their ACC success has come from the hands of Ian Jackson, and lets just say Zack Austin will have his hands very very full. 21/5/1 in ACC Play, 40% From 3, pure pure scorer, keep the ball away from him. The main backup guard is Seth Tremble, 9/5/1 in ACC action, just 20% From deep. Cade Tyson plays sparingly, pretty good shooter.

I think Pitt's best bets are the bottom four on this list based on PSU visits and offers.

Pitt has received a commitment today for 2026. If the commit is local, my money is on Reston Lehman

Call from Eli

Longtime lurker, infrequent poster. The venom that every post gets seems makes it not worth it in most cases. I was curious if this has happened to anyone else. Longtime season ticket holder, donate to the Athletic Fund and Alliance 412, but not in substantial amounts. My ticket rep has been calling asking for my renewal, I have been consistent that I most likely I will renew. but I need evidence that Pitt will be competive. I have kids at other ACC schools. My youngest is at UVA. They have received mutiple seven figure donations and have brought in 20+ portal players almost all of which are P4 and on paper are rated significantly higher than was Pitt has signed. Similarly, I have a junior at Wake. Obviously, they get the benefit of a new coach from Wash St. who is bringing a bunch of his players who are jumping off the Titanic at Wash St. Still, they have signed 3 P4 OL and lots of other talent, 20+ in total.

Yesterday, my rep calls again. I wouldn't have answered except I was expecting another call. He asked is I had a moment to talk to someone. I said sure and for the next 10 minutes I was speaking to Eli Holstein. What a great kid, easy to root for. He is all-in on Pitt, loves Bell and his system, promised me he is staying :), and is convinced that Pitt will compete for the ACC title in 2025. He was working hard to get me to renew and increase my donation. It was quite enjoyable to talk to him.

Is anyone else getting these types of calls? It reeked of desperation as I would never expect the personal interaction given my status as a donor and season ticket holder. I nearly relented and renewed, but held firm and told him I am taking a wait and see approach. Not very optimistic in near term prospects of the football and basketball programs,

Who Remembers the Astro Blue Bonnet Bowl ?

Pitt lost to Texas. I remember Larry Wanke coming off the bench to toss three tds but Pitt lost 32-27.. But the thing I remember most about this game was the last BB game. It was played the Astro Dome but like 23 thousand showed up despite the fact that it was played in Texas. The Bowl disbanded the following year and I remember reading that the teams didn’t get their share. It was on New Years Eve I believe. If you do remember it you are an old dude like me!

Drew Allar

This probably doesn’t need it’s own thread but…

Has there been a more overhyped quarterback in recent memory? I mean he gets talked about like he’s a Heisman finalist and one of the next prodigous NFL quarterbacks. He is big and he can throw a ball far. Cool. I don’t recall him ever looking elite for a half, let alone an entire game. He routinely misses easy throws and goes like 12/20 for 150 yards.

That throw to Notre Dame at the end of the game though…beautiful. Maybe my favorite pass of the year 😉 Thank you for saving us from having to watch Penn State play in a national championship with that one Drew!

Heather wasn’t canned soon enough. Extending this clown…

….was malpractice. The end of game offensive failings are a punctuation mark on the fact this incompetent(apparently untouchable staff) are not up to the task. You may not be able to fire Capel at the end of this season but if he is not forced to clear that bench then this program gets what it deserves….spoiler…it deserves disappointment.

Not impressed by Sean McVay today

I thought that play calling was piss poor. A couple 3rd and shorts in the first half when they loaded up and ran right into a brick wall. Then on 3rd and 3 late, with the field spread and knowing that it was 4-down territory, I thought they should have tried to hit them with a draw.

Weather couldn't have benefitted the Eagles any more, though. That was homefield advantage on steroids. Not a bad model to emulate if you're the Steelers. Need to keep devoting high draft capital to the lines.

Kelsey coached CIRCLES around Jeff

**** man. I hate making these threads but I’m so ****ing irate right now

Capel has fixed NOTHING .

The same issues that we identified week one are even WORSE now.

And there’s been zero sign he can fix it.

Kelsey draws up these perfect plays for his guys. Knows when to use timeouts. Always had an answer

Capel just be rolling the ball out and refusing to make adjustments

The team continues these stupid drives into the teeth

The team continues to have massive defensive lapses

The team continues to have ludicrous shot selection

The team continues TO GET MURDERED ON THE GLASS

And he never subs so they’re exhausted at the end!
