OT-When did your kids become Pitt fans?

Was there a specific instance where a light turned on?

I took my 11-year-old daughter and six-year-old son to the opener against Villanova in 1998. A 48–41 victory. We sat right next to the band. When the team came back on the field, for the second half, the band played the fight song, and my son was dancing in the aisle. When the band broke off into groups to go around the stadium to play during the third quarter, they asked if they could take my son and daughter. after that, my son was going to go to Pitt, and he was gonna play in the band. it’s the only school he ever really wanted to go to. Unfortunately, only one of two came true, he played in the band 2011–2015. We’ve had football season tickets ever since then, along with basketball last year in volleyball this year. he was able to be in the band because they have a role that if the school you go to doesn’t have a marching band, you can be in Pitt band. He went to CCAC, and eventually graduated from Duquesne.

Remember the $5 kids tickets at Pitt Stadium? don’t you think that would be a pretty good idea to grow the fan base now? Hell, keep them at $5. They would make up the difference in concessions.

OT: NWSL expansion-how much??

Ok not that most will be interested, but let’s say you’re interested in buying a women’s pro soccer team. Care to guess what it would cost you?

Does 110 million sound like a lot? That’s what Denver just paid to secure an expansion team in the NWSL.

I’m sure that’s 110 million more than SMF would pay. But it just struck me as a lot.

I don’t see Tuffy Shallenberger or Dan Rooney bringing a women’s team to Pittsburgh any time soon.

Hamlin & O'Neill named Pro Bowl alternates

Didn't see any Pitt pro bowlers this year, but good for Hamlin & O'Neill. Was hoping to see Conner listed too but didn't, #7 in NFL in scrimmage yards & #9 rushing. If Hamlin or O'Neill get to fill in, it would be Hamlin's 1st & O'Neill's 2nd (Conner has made 2 too).

Start at Pitt vs. Likely Backup Elsewhere?

With the early Portal period just getting warm, I’m thinking about OLine Portal targets for Pitt and the choice that older guys will have, namely:

A. Legitimate chance to start for P4 Pitt (and get maximum P4 playing time and NFL scout exposure)
or
B. Get more guaranteed $$$ from a wealthy B10 or SEC, etc. team but likely spend your final year as a depth piece

I believe that will essentially be the choice for a bunch of Pitt targets and it’ll be interesting to see the choices they make, and how things look for them after the season.

How would you fix the CFP

Its going to 14, isnt it? If so, this is what I'd do:

- Top 2 conference champs receive byes. This would be the B10 and SEC champs in most years. Gives them something to play for in their championship games.

- Next 2 conference champs receive a top 8 seed and a home game.

- 5th best conference champ is guaranteed a bid, but not guaranteed a home game

- STOP outsourcing to bowls and keep all the money

- 1st 2 rounds at campus sites

- Final Four all at one site

Using this year as an example:

1 Oregon hosts 8 ASU/9 Ten winner

4 PSU hosts 13 Miami and then ND/12 Bama winner

3 Texas hosts 14 Clem and then 6 OSU/11 SMU winner

2 UGa hosts 7 Boise/10 Indiana winner
