17 in Coaches Poll

Two things are equally true.

1. The Big East is nowhere near being a mid-major conference.

2. The ACC isn't close to being the best conference.

Mid-majors don't have multiple top ten teams, a national player of the year candidate, multiple freshmen All-American candidates, and a top 3 conference RPI.

The ACC got abused by the Big Ten in the challenge, and are far behind the Big XII, and doesn't have close to yhe depth the Pac 12 does.

Pitt went where they needed to go for football reasons, but the basketball program isn't better off because of it. Both recruiting and attendance have fallen off since the move. You can spin it any way you like, but that's the truth.
You're all wet.

"Congrats on winning games against Midmajor teams this year."

You just keep getting more stupid!!! Villanova's SOS = #1!!!! Big East RPI = #2!!!

Come back and brag when your conference does anything in March and April. This thread is now pointless

Want to make a friendly wager? I get the ACC in the NCAA Tournament. You can have Villanova and the Big East or any other conference. The ACC dominates the NCAA Tournament. Dominates. The Big Ten and Big 12 have fallen on their face so many times in the NCAA Tournament Ive lost count.

You want to compare the ACC with any other conference in the NCAA Tournament? Let's dance. You want to take any other conference against my ACC this year in this years Ncaa Tournament? Let's dance. You want to take 5 teams from any other conference and put them up against the Top 5 of the ACC in the NCAA Tournament this year? Let's dance.

The best posters on this thread are LBTF, and mvk112. Everytime they post, they provide facts. The other idiots (Delpanther, and steel_curtain) talk out their ass and provide nothing but false statements to get a rise out of other posters.
I am the bestestest poster in this thread, especially as I started the thread.

Villanova hasnt reached the Sweet 16 since 2009.

Fact.

The Big East Conference will never win a National Title again

Fact

Big East sucks. Admit it. Go home and watch your games in that barn with your200 hundred fans.

Deal! I will take Kansas, Oklahoma, Maryland, Villanova and Xavier. How will this work? Do you pick 5 ACC teams?

Steel Curtain,

I will take the Big East vs ACC. The number of teams we can take is the lower number of teams that made it from both conferences.

Okay. So the Big East will probably have 5 teams. You can have the 5 top ACC (of course this may change) teams that make the tourny. The winning % at the end of the tournament of those 5 teams is used to figure a winner.

Perfect. We can put money on it too. You, and MVK guy, and any other Villanova or Big east fan that wants in.

I get the ACC, that's it.

Friendly. Especially since its not 100% fair since the ACC 5th team out of 15 will have a higher seed than the Big Easts 5th team out of 10.

But since its just for fun. We will go with our agreement. If the ACC has more teams than the Big East, then you can pick your top x amount of teams matching the Big Easts x amount of teams when the brackets come out.

Don't you just love how the Pitt fans puff out their chests about the ACC and then run like little girls behind Duke and Carolina?

Fact.

Stand up for yourselves. Nova vs Pitt in March. Whoever goes deeper in the tourney wins. Any takers?

Why would I need to? In no way shape or form am I

1) Hyping Pitt
2) Validating Pitt
3) Guaranteeing Pitt does anything great yet

I simply stated 3 facts

1) Ranked
2) Undefeated in ACC play with 14-1 Record
3) Majority of team returns next year

That's it. A bunch of you clowns came onto to a Pitt board downplaying Pitt without any supporting facts, only opinions. Give a fact as to why Pitt basketball is going to fall off a cliff either this year or next year. Im not looking down the road 3 years from now, its to far.

Duke is the only ACC team that does anything in March anymore. The conference used to just be top heavy, now its a one trick pony.

LOL at the poster getting on Villanova for not reaching Sweet 16 since 2009. Just a coincidence that it was same as last time Pitt made 16? And as much as I hated that game, we all know how that turned out.

Give me the Big 12 & SEC in NCAA play over the ACC. Big East will do well too. The ACC, outside of Duke, probably won't fare that well.

Um, What?

North Carolina won the National title in 2005 and 2009. They went to the Elite in 2011 and 2012 and also went to another Final 4 in 2008. They also went to the Sweet 16 last year and was preseason #1 this year with Paige hurt.

Louisville won the National Title in 2013. Went to the Final 4 in 2014. Went to the Elite 8 in 2015, 2008, and 2009

Syracuse won the National Title in 2003. Went to the Final 4 in 2013. Went to the elite 8 in 2012. Went to the Sweet 16 in 2010, 2009, 2008, and 2004.

Notre Dame went to the Elite 8 last year.

All these programs are currently better than Villanova basketball. The Top 4 in the ACC blow the doors off Villanova and the entire Big East conference.

The SEC is a joke outside of Kentucky and Florida. And the Big 12 in the NCAA Tournament? You dont want to really go there, do you?

2009 is a long time ago, anything before is pretty much useless in current context.

Louisville & Syracuse weren't part of the conference when they were doing all of that good stuff.

The conference is pretty much riding Duke's coattails in the NCAA's anymore.

The Big 12 has about four high level teams with a shot at the Finsl Four, and another 3 or 4 that will get in.

The SEC will have Kentucky and LSU playing deep into March, and if Vanderbilt gets straightened out, they'll make some noise too.

If you watched college hoops outside of the Bojangles Conference, you'd see the quality all over the country.

GTFO, seriously. You couldnt of inserted a bigger foot into your mouth by calling out the ACC.

LOL okay, sure. The conference has been so top heavy for years, and that isn't changing anytime soon. Its Duke, UNC, or bust (and even that has pretty much been Duke or bust lately). The Big 12 has four teams as good or better. The top of the SEC is right there with them now that LSU has its full roster, and the ACC hasn't won an ACC/Big Ten Challenge since 2008.

The only people that think the ACC is the best conference are the people on Tobacco Road and apparently some Pitt fans with inferiority complexes.

What are you talking about, seriously?

Louisville was in the ACC last year and went to the Elite 8 last year.
Notre Dame was in the ACC last year and went to the Elite 8 last year.
Duke won the National Title last year.
The ACC put 5 Teams in the Sweet 16 last year, which was the best by a landslide for any conference.

The ACC won the National Title last year. Had the most teams in the Elite 8 last year. Had the most teams in the Sweet 16 last year. What metric would you like to use? The ACC absolutely dominated last season. And the ACC is set to dominate again in the NCAA Tournament this year. If Virginia didnt lose its best player to injury, the ACC would have broke multiple NCAA Tournament records last year. The ACC was the best conference last season and it wasnt even close.

your200 hundred fans? 20000 (200 hundred) is what we get to all our home games at the WFC.

You play 2 or 3 games a season there- the games against the teams someone has actually heard of. You don't get 20 k for those games-I've been there.

Del,

Villanova was 44th in attendance last year, Pitt was 41st. Do you really think there is a significant difference between the two?

LBTF,

Agree. That would be the real bet.
You were happy about the BE/Fox deal in a post above. You might want to be a bit cautious about that. According to sn article I read last week about college sports and TV money, Fox has yet to draw even 100k viewers to any of their BE Game of the Week telecasts and are seriously considering whether to continue the contract.

Without that TV money, the BE has real problems. Networks are no longer lining up to throw money at anyone.
