If you had to choose Pitt players to be on next year's team, in what order would you select them. Inotherwords, who is most important to the future and for next year. To make this more interesting, lets just assume Ndir can get another year of eligibility. Heres mine:

1. Johnson

2. McGowens - he is going to be real good eventually

3. Toney - still see some Jaron in him

4. Brown - he's 6'10 and can be a decent 15 MPG backup 5 on a good team

5. Ndir - like his game, solid backup

6. Ellison - process of elimination, only ties up scholarship for 1 year

7. Chukwuka - see above

8. Davis - only 2 years left and 6'5 wings are a dime a dozen. Hasnt shown any signs

9. George

I’d take your first 4 in that order and trade the rest for grad transfers , jucos or reg transfers .

Oh wow!!! A new twist to humiliate the players. Guess what. We all know the talent level. All but a few like the OP know that they try hard and do what they can, but lets humiliate them in every little way possible but having a game of whether they should stay or not. Sick little group of not so good fans. Can you imagine a HS kid coming here to see the fan base! They ain't coming to Pitt if they see this crap. Keep up the bad work.

It is called shooting yourself in the foot. Unfortunately, it is what some fans will do.

Pretty sure the post asked people to prioritize people staying......It's not crazy to assume roster shake ups based on our results

First this is mild stuff for this board and second the players who’ve been here two yrs have won a total of 2 conference games . Do you really think that they feel snake bitten or that maybe they’re playing at the wrong
level ?
How many kids go to Pitt with the intentions of being a Dr or engineer and discover that after a couple of terms that they can’t do the work and move on to different majors ? This is the same thing except these guys are on tv , in the newspapers and topics of a lot of social media . This is part of price they pay for the attention they receive .
Since I don’t know any of the players I’ll assume they’re all good guys who are doing excellent in their school work . Last yrs team had the highest qpa ever , I believe , but unfortunately they’re there to win bb games and fill the Pete up . Pitt didn’t force JD out and fire KS because the players weren’t nice kids who didn’t work hard , it’s a big busine$$ .

IRRELEVANT. The point is there is no need to go the extra mile to spuit in their faces because they don't have the talent the other teams have. How about a game where you work and let the people vote on who should be kicked out. That would be fun wouldn't it!!!!! Criticize their inability to shoot well, criticize their inability to box out or rebound well etc. But you don't need to go out of your way to play pathetic games at their expense. Keep up the bad work.

You need to find another mission , anonymous sport message boards don’t appear to be where you should
be .

So it’s ok by you to say such and such a player can’t shoot , can’t box out , has hands of stone and slow of foot , but speculating on who should stay or go is a horrible thing to do ? Strange !

This isn’t middle school were everyone gets to play , this is big boy ball and the way it is now D1 Fb and bb are all about the $$$$ . Pitt didn’t eat KS contract and pay JC millions to come in an babysit a bunch of guys who would be better suited to play and most likely excel at a lower level of ball .

They paid JC to win and fill the Pete back up so they could make more $$$$ !

I never question the players work ethics , I'm not in gym with them and I have no idea the work they put in . I have no doubt that the coaching staff sees to that , but it’s obvious that this team is severely deficient in talent , until that is corrected they will continue to lose .

" . . . it’s obvious that this team is severely deficient in talent , until that is corrected they will continue to lose."

This is true regarding ACC play--we are in such a tough conference (we did okay OOC). We are particularly deficient in quality post players and more generally in overall ACC level quality depth.

Hopefully, we will land 1-2 more bigs (Freshmen, JUCOs and/or Grad Transfers -- it doesn't matter too much, IMHO) by September who are more talented than what we currently have so that we can take a step forward next season and get to or exceed 0.500 overall by winning 10-11 OOC and enough (6-8?) ACC games to get there.

The only way to fill up the Pete and that’s their ultimate goal , is to win and compete in conference and post season play . You need much better players than they have , coaching these guys up just isn’t going to do it . I believe they have the right coach to get those players , patience is needed . Right now I really believe the season can’t end soon enough , they need to decompress and start over .

If we can bring in 10 better players than Brown then yes, I wouldnt keep him but its doubtful we can do that with this class.
I realize that won't happen....but I'd prefer a raw big who might develop. I'm hoping for 6 new guys, at least..

What makes you think a new big who needs to develop will be better than Brown ?

Decent vision and a brain....both mine. ;)
I'll take a raw body with heart and fire over a guy who's in a daze. Every time.

Johnson
McGowens
Toney
Brown
Mix of Quality Freshman, Juco & Grad Transfer. Must be some Bigs & 3pt. shooters in that mix.

I would love to see any of you take their schlorships.
oh wait You (posters) cant play !
I agree with Beth it is a sick, stupid, Immature thing to post and say from people with no stars and no offers.
Until you get off the computer and on the court and do better. Who cares what you prefer !!!!!!!

When college athletics becomes about educating students and not about revenue and victories then commenting on a players position on a team with limited scholarships will be inappropriate .

It is ironic, they are paid with academic scholarships, but it doesn't matter if they even go to class to be honest, especially the one and dones.

These kids are pro athletes. They are paid with free tuition, housing, food, and per diems. We could argue if that's enough (it isnt) but they are amateur in name only. If anyone wants to follow or discuss true student-athletes, go find a W&J message board.

What I find hard to take is that all the “adults” involved with these kids are so highly compensated. The two highest paid people at most D1 schools are the Fb and bb coaches ! I understand it’s all about cash flow , but I guess why pay the players with cash if you don’t have to . English class is a life changing experience ! You can’t put a dollar value on that .
Look how much extra money all the ACC teams have made this year if they had a home game with Duke featuring Zion . Doesn’t seem right somehow .
It’s about time an 18 yr old phenomena can choose to profit from his skills or decide to go to college .

The reason they colleges can pay coaches top-level salaries is because they dont have to pay the players.

You know what, just thought of a new idea for the G5 football schools. Leave the NCAA, form their own governing body and pay all the players $75K per year. You'd think they'd get all the best players which would allow them to have a great TV contract.

I don't wish the kid any harm, but I want Pitt to improve. He might be happier at IUP or RMU.
Has there ever been a time when TBrown would be the 13th man on the roster at Pitt ? He is after all a 6’9” true sophomore that has some offensive abilities plus he has a knack for blocking shots .
If JC could assemble a roster in the next yr or two were that would be true Pitt will be a much better team .

The problem is that he isn't #13....that'd be fine. Only 8 or 9 usually play. Instead, he's a starter or early sub. It says it all if Kene was the starter for several games, maybe the majority. I'd prefer Austin Wallace.

That's actually a good idea.
