So as of right now it seems like Morrisey (obviously), Hargrove and Huey will be 3 of the starters on the O-line. Is anyone else concerned about the depth Pitt has to replace the other two positions? Another Grad Transfer maybe?
I would say Ford and VanLynn would be the other 2 starters in addition to the 3 you listed. I would expect VanLynn to add weight like O’Neill did and move to OT. Yes, I would add a Grad Transfer. So as of right now it seems like Morrisey (obviously), Hargrove and Huey will be 3 of the starters on the O-line. There is not a lot of depth. Only two low rated freshman recruits.Huey
Hargrove
Morrissey
Ford
Van Lynn / Drake
I agree that Huoy, Morrissey, and Hargrove (not sure hed be a tackle though) are locks to be the starters.Huey
Hargrove
Morrissey
Ford

That is the same thing people said coming into this year.On paper this looks like the worst Oline we've put together in a while. We're going to see what type of OL scouting/development chops Narduzzi and staff have next season.

The line was pretty impressive until Morrissey got hurt on that superfluous and ridiculous call by Watson. Are you saying everything turned out fine or are you saying different year, same problems?

A lot of the pass protection problems were due to scheme. Tackles got absolutely no help. Lone back was almost never Aston. Almost always took the first inside rusher to gain ground. Never any help on the edge. No plays called to take advantage of edge rushers. What's your point? The offensive line was horrendous this season outside of being able to block the world-beaters of Virginia and Duke.
PITT may have had the worst pass protection in all of college football in 2018. Narduzzi better hope some of Chryst's OL magically appear to make him look better than he is.

Those two phanthom holding calls on the other side of the play that negated TDs are clear examples of that. The number of penalties by the line and tackles for a loss was pretty impressive for a school that still managed to run the ball as well as Pitt did.

Holding the TE in to block? What else was he going to do?So all of the roll-outs plays and holding the TE in to block were just for kicks and giggles?

The stupid roll outs were all Watson trying to protect (not pass protect) a QB that did not need it.
What would Pitt's offense scheme be described as? We certainly do not run a pro style offense with pro style routes or pass locking schemes.

Did you see what UNC did to us? Bubble screens and passes to the flat. Quick slants. Shovel passes. Long passes on first down or third and one. There are other ways to pass the ball that don't require lots of time to make a throw. What Watson relied on was offensive malpractice.A large part of the offenses failings had to do with getting the QB out of the pocket so that he could stay upright long enough for the WR's to run a pattern or give him the chance to run. You don't really think the OC chose to cut the field in half because he thought he was fooling anyone, did you? So far as the TE's, yeah, what else was he going to do? There are literally schools that line up five wide on just about every play and score tons of points. Pitt struggled at times with a RB and a TE in pass pro to get the ball off.

And a few days later, Pitt would only manage 69 yards rushing.
And the season went to crap after that. The line was pretty impressive until Morrissey got hurt on that superfluous and ridiculous call by Watson.
What caused that?
Well, we know it's not because Pickett threw for 400 yards and three TD's.
That people continue to note this proves that the depth was/is garbage to the extreme, if it is making people crazy months later that a coach merely called a play to try to score points and win a game, and an injury occurred randomly and freakily .The line was pretty impressive until Morrissey got hurt on that superfluous and ridiculous call by Watson.
