We have all played ball on the playground. In a game to 21 at my hometown park 11-0 was a shut out--game over, I may have seen a couple of those, but I don't think I ever saw a 21-1 win.

Carr, Stevenson and JW-F (and Milligan) lose the ball way too often when they dribble. Carr dribbles too high and also turns his back on the defender leaving the ball on the outside hand ripe for a poke away. The other three seem to often have the ball too far away from their bodies (except when JW-F and Shamiel bring it in and dribble off their foot).

I don't have a problem with the whole line change thing, sitting the starters for mistakes is the only weapon a coach has, unless you're Mike Rice. Especially if the game is lost anyway why not pull a Rollie Massimino and sit them for the rest of the half?

To be fair to Carr, I think he is doing the best he can. He is a freshman who is not a PG. At times, it does look like Milligan goes out of his way to dribble into his defender and that needs to stop. The one thing I would like to see is more passing and less dribbling in general. This 1 dribble crap looks more like Jr High ball.

I had never seen a D1 college game between Power 5 teams start out 21-1, and then never really make it a game. Thanks to Stallings, now I have.

Yeah, never anything close:

"No one could remember a game starting quite like the one between No. 3 Syracuse and No. 5 Pittsburgh on Jan. 17 at the Petersen Events Center.

Syracuse, playing without leading scorer Kris Joseph who had suffered a concussion in the Orange's win over No. 25 Cincinnati just two days earlier, fell behind 19-0 after eight minutes.

While the sellout crowd at the Pete went crazy, the Orange responded with 18 consecutive points. Syracuse held Pitt without a point for more than six minutes as it made its run."

Yeah, but 21-1, now that is something else.

I must have missed the part in which Pitt scored 18 straight points. When did that happen?

There was a game a few years back, where Pitt started a game with a 19-0 lead vs. Syracuse, then Cuse came back and cut it to 19-18.

That was definitely the craziest start to a game I’ve ever witnessed in person. There we were, just laughing at how inept Syracuse was and I think we actually applauded sarcastically when they scored their first points. (Kind of like we used to do during early season games when we were able to blow teams out and you started feeling bad for the opponent because they were so overmatched.)

Next thing you know it’s a one point game. An amazing game that thankfully we won, like we always did against the Cuse. Man, what a great time that was to be a Pitt b-ball fan and how sad to see the depths to which we have now sunk...

Never said that it did, but you said you never saw a 21-1 score in a game before. I just pointed out that not long ago there was an 18-0 score that happened at the Pete against a top notch opponent. Maybe you slept through that season?

We used to own Syracuse under Dixon, and today we are 17 point underdogs.

That's because Dixon knew how to coach and how to breakdown the 2-3 zone. Stallings doesn't have a clue. I'd be surprised if we lost by anything under 20. This is not a great 'Cuse team and in the days when Dixon was here, we'd toy with them and beat them by 20. Now they'll do that to us.
