If you break our ACC schedule into thirds, that's our path to a guaranteed bid without having to win a game in DC.

The first third of our schedule is by far the easiest. 4 home games, BC (the only guaranteed win), and only 1 sure NCAAT team (Lou). 5-1 is a necessity because things get difficult thereafter.

We need to split the FSU/Clemson roadtrip, which wont be easy then beat the Virginias to get 3 wins without needing to win in Coral Gables or Chapel Hill.

In the last third, Wake has to be a win at home, need to split Lou/Duke at home and win 1 of the 3 road games (Syr, VT, GT).

NCSU is not make or break but we need it to stay "on schedule."

I could definitely see 5-1, 2-4, 4-2. I think that seems a lot more likely than your scenario. I think our last 3rd isn't too bad. As long as we split the UL/Duke home games, I think we can easily win 2 of the three on the road to close the year.

Middle part is by far the hardest, but those road games @FSU and @Clemson are tossups. I know Clemson is on a huge roll right now, but we'll see.

I think 10-8 in league, provided we win one ACCT game, should also be more than enough. We'd have a top 30ish RPI, hard to leave that kind of RPI out...it'd be unprecedented. 11-7, we are looking at a 6-7 seed if we beat the right kind of teams to get to 11 wins.

I would hate to see us go 10-8 and have to beat say, 8-10 FSU on our first ACCT game to lock up a bid. 14 of the 15 ACC teams are good so a game like that would be extremely nerve-racking.

I agree we can go 2-4 then 4-2 but the key is splitting FSU and Clemson. VT has to be a win and as crazy as this sounds, I think the blackout/hyped up Pete guarantees a Uva victory. Pitt rarely loses when the Pete is in rare form and it will be that day.

Why are we so worried about FSU? Sure its on he road so we could lose; but they don't seem to be very good. Syracuse just beat them 83-55 at FSU.

FSU has A LOT of offensive talent.......A LOT. They have 3 NBA prospects, XRM, Dwayne Bacon, and Malik Beasley. Bojanovsky, their 7'3 center is much improved and they have good support players in Bookert and Brandon.

I picked FSU 5th and I still dont think there are 5 teams with more talent than them. If Leonard Hamilton wasnt coaching them, I would say they are Sweet 16 caliber.

FSU beat UVA today in Tallahassee, 3 ACC losses now for UVA, both teams are now 2-3 in league play. The road game AT FSU next weekend will be a battle.

I really don't think we would be all that happy if Pitt lost 7 more games. Maybe they lose a game they shouldn't, but I don't see 7 games against teams better than Pitt right now. Louisville was the only team I think Pitt is better than that I would still say Pitt will likely lose every time. Again Thursday night, they've always had our number. I really think we should be able to do a little better than 10-8 in conference this season.
