How do you get it? I have YouTubeTV and downloaded the CW app and it doesn’t show live sports. The app shows LIV golf though..

That’s 25% of our conference schedule if you can’t get CW network

Everyone in America gets the CW as it is an over-the-air station just like CBS, ABC, Fox, and NBC. These are nationally televised games that your grandma in Montana, who doesn't even have cable can watch. So, yea, you get it.

So you’re saying there’s a local CW station available in all areas of America? I don’t agree.

And you’re also saying that in all areas where there is a local CW station it is definitely picked up by all available services in the area such as cable, YTTV, Hulu Live, etc. That’s not true either. But I guess you could put an antenna on your roof to pick up the local CW station in this case.

I do believe that there is a local CW station in something like 99% of American television markets.

I said this before the Cincinnati game: given some of the streaming weirdness, I really think the best call for a Pitt fan is to get a $20 antenna from Amazon (mine isn’t even outside, it has a 20 foot cord so I just ran it up and have it resting on top of a bookshelf near a window, super out of sight/out of mind) and go that route. Especially with five basketball conference games on the CW this winter.

I don't get why the CW does not allow streaming live games though. I ended up missing the first half of Pitt Cincy because we were out and I didn't realize the app wouldnt let me stream even though I have a cable package to sign in with. Seems like a bad way to bleed viewers. I am sure they have a reason, but could be why they are trailing in ratings versus the other networks.

Why didnt you just stream it on your cable app? I have YouTube TV and I can go onto that app and stream CW anytime.

This is great . Just turn on the TV and get game free.
Better than streaming some jive channel.

They don't have the rights to do so from the ACC. Only ESPN family does I would assume.

Still, any antenna or any cable package is going to have the CW. It's like getting Fox.

I have YTT, and knew it had CW and assumed I would be able to watch the Cincy game, but was not able to.

If you have You Tube TV, you can watch it on the YouTube TV app. Here's a hint. Any channel you get with YTTV, you can watch that channel live anywhere on that app.

When these games were held by Bally Sports, ESPN had streaming rights. ESPN3 would show the game live if your RSN didnt pick the game up. If they did pick the game up, you could watch it on ESPN3 after the game ended. With The CW being available everywhere, those games wouldn't be able to be shown live on ESPN3 but they also arent being shown after they air. Must be a new part of the contract that was added.

CW paid to takeover the Raycom games. CW changed ownership a while back and that's the reason they aren't on most of the streaming services: the services don't think zombie-CW has much value and don't want to pay for the channel.

How does CW keep their profile up and get back to those cable company payments? Cover live sporting events. That's why you can't stream it on their website, they want the cable companies to pay to carry it. If every ACC fan knows they can watch every game on the CW website for free, the cable companies have no reason to pay for it.

What streaming services dont carry The CW?

That’s not true, everyone in America does not get cw

I will need to check if my streaming service carries CW. Where I live, I am out of range of all over the air broadcast stations except one (with really bad reception).

Not sure if you tried other antennas before but their are longer range ones to 200 miles (vs 30 to 50 miles). It also should be facing west.

Sorry tell you super genius, I have the app and was unable to watch the Cincy game.

Do you live in Western PA? As long as there is a local CW in your area, you can watch it on YouTube TV.
For the love of christ, yes I normally can watch CW through YouTube TV.

However, as I have repeated, I was not able to watch the Cincy game on it.

I was able to watch all the other Pitt games, and they are saved so I can watch them now. The Cinci game never recorded.

You made a mistake. Mine recorded. I even watched some at the game to check a replay situation. You can 100% watch The CW live on YouTube TV

No, I didn't moron.
You don't manually record them, I have had it set to record all Pitt games for years now.
That was my point in noting that.
I went to watch the game that night and tried everything possible using the app on my TV, phone and laptop.
IT WASN'T AVAILABLE TO ME.
STFU trying to tell me otherwise.

I have Fubo and it does not have the Pittsburgh CW station. It does have, and has for as long as I've had it, the station that used to be the CW station that is now KDKA+.
Hulu live/plus which is essentially comparable to YTTV also doesn’t carry the available CW station in some areas.

Dude, you did something wrong. I just looked it up right now and its still recorded on my YTTV app and as I said, I had it on live at the game to watch a replay. I have YTTV set to record all NCAA Football games so it recorded that one. I will say that perhaps there was glitch in their record section that it did not "recognize" it as a Pittsburgh Panther game that needed recording. That has happened to me for US Soccer games because of how they are categorized. Sometimes they fall under World Cup Qualifiers or International Friendlies, or Gold Cup so I have to have those all set to record hoping one of them will work. Just selecting US Soccer to record doesn't always.

Did you attempt to watch it live on YTTV? What did it say?

Regarding YTTV and The CW, it depends where you live and if the CW affiliate in your area is offered. I wasn’t able to watch the Cincy game on YTTV because the local CW affiliate in my area isn’t available (I had to use a buddy’s Hulu TV account). I do suspect that I am in one of those rare areas of the country, but it’s not accurate to say that just because you have YTTV you get CW.

But everyone in America can watch for free if they have a digital antenna. Some areas may require a more expensive, higher powered antenna but its free over the air. What I dont understand about those things is werent they supposed to be built into new TVs. My youngest TV is 5 or 6 years old and I dont think it has a way to watch "free TV."

I am asking you very specifically, when you went into the YouTube TV app between the hours of 7:30 and 11PM and clicked on the CW channel, what happened? Did it tell you it was blacked out? Because mine sure didnt.

It wasn't even available then.
