I really don't listen to the fan other than pirates games but had it on this morning about 8 - 8:15 might have been Chris Mack, not really sure, but he was talking to Phil Steele they were talking about sept 10, and how penn state bought up a lot of tickets, and who ever the host was said that this game should be 50, 50 Pitt, penn state fans. I don't see it, it seems like the station, other than a couple of guys on the fan don't support Pittsburgh sports let alone Pitt

Anybody that says it will be 50/50 has no clue and didn't do his homework. If Pitt just renews previous season tickets, it fills 2/3 or stadium, and that doesn't include new season ticket holders. Yes, some PSU fans bought season tix instead of single-game, but if there is 10-15 k Nit fans out of 65k in the stadium, it will be surprising.

There are 10,000 student tickets and while sure, there may be 100-200 PSU students who got in with their Pitt student friends, that whole section is all Pitt.

So 50/50 means
34,000 PSU fans
24,000 non-student Pitt fans
10,000 Pitt students

45,000 non-student Pitt fans
10,000 Pitt students
13,000 PSU fans

Also, google image last year's PSU/Temple game. I was astounded that it was 2/3 Temple fans and a sea of maroon, couldn't believe when I ESPN3'd it on my way home from the Pitt game.

PSU literally is the #1 team in ALL of Eastern PA. Temple is only #2 in a few zip codes (Facebook fan map) so I figured Temple fans would be greatly outnumbered. Bu contrast, Pitt has the largest fanbase (Facebook fan map) in all of Allegheny County and like 90% of the neighboring counties. PSU takes the lead when you get into places like Fayette and Greene County.

There were 30,000 Ticket renewals, and there was a period of time that the Current Season ticket holders had the option to buy more seats... and that number went up.... adding in new Pitt Season Ticket holders...
So I think you estimate of 45k Non-Student Pitt fans, 10k Pitt Students is very close...

I dropped the station completely when Ron Cook attacked Pitt fans for questioning his pimping for Bradley. We all know how that turned out - Bradley was again mentioned in court records as knowing what was going on.

Northern Fayette and Northern Greene is PSU 1, Pitt 2, WVU 3. As you go a little further south, WVU jumps Pitt and its PSU, WVU, Pitt. Then as you get closer to the border its WVU, PSU, Pitt

The interesting thing is for just about all of metropolitan Pittsburgh, OSU is the #3 team, not WVU.

I completely forgot about 93.7 the fan since the end of basketball season. I never listen to that station except for Pitt games. They could be off the air and I'd never know it. And I quit listening because their hosts are basically lazy lumps of waste who constantly pimp out-of-town college teams + the Stillers. I have no interest in either.
