Curious to see what you guys think about this. Please don't answer what you want to see happen, obv we all want to go to the games. Answer what you think will happen.

Me personally I'm leaning towards choice #2 or #3.

If a second wave of coronavirus hits in the fall, that could change decisions. What will happen with Pitt football is a burning question. Would that impact what happens to college basketball? So many unknowns, just a lot of guessing and gut feels at this point.

I could see maybe early on there won't be fans and then towards the middle of the season they partially fill the Pete and other venues. But I could also see a limited season with no fans.

I tried to put the most realistic choices for you guys to choose. Choice #4 is the nuclear choice where the season is cancelled and sadly I can't right now even totally write that off. But I'm gonna go with choice #2, a season of some sort will happen but no fans.

All fans who want to be there with no restrictions by January, 2021. Early season only healthy fans with masks will be attending.

This sounds right, though I'm far from an epidemiologist. Maybe they limit attendance for the early games to, say, 4,000 fans to keep distancing in place. And they remove the courtside seats and spread the press area out. Sadly, the Zoo would have to be modified. Of course, for those November and December games against smaller schools it may not matter much.

One thing I don't know is how much TV revenue drives college basketball. I could see them waiting even longer for fans if they're making enough money on TV rights with, presumably, viewership being up.

So will people be examined upon entry to determine if they’re healthy? Will there be a health pass on people’s phones like they had in China?

IMHO, probably by October just requiring masks and otherwise trusting in good personal judgment not to come if you are concerned about your personal health or have an at risk person at home in your household.

Of course this is all speculation since we don’t know whether there may or not be an effective treatment available by then or even a vaccine. Both things are possible and either could be a complete game changer to where no precautions, not even masks would be needed.

Well you got at exactly what I was saying. I think a lot of people are using good judgement. But not enough that I’d trust that good personal judgement. Plus there’s the issue - which seems to have gotten larger - of the asymptotic (or very mild) carriers.

And yes - some kind of treatment changes the game considerably - obviously. Even with the remdisivir (spelling?) that’s not likely to be game changing. It’s helpful but we will likely need more.
