Kind of a follow up to yesterday's question. As many feel, Blair would be the best had he stayed 4 seasons with Pitt. He didn't but I threw his name in the mix anyways.

I'm going with Charles Smith. Enjoy!

By the way, if Sam Young didn't have knee problems his first 2 years with us he might very well be in this conversation because he was awesome as a junior and senior.

To be fair - the vote should be restricted to people who saw these guys play. There is very limited viewing of old time Pitt basketball.

That's what makes it tough. I voted for Smith, and he might be the right answer. But I would have liked to have seen Knight play live a few times for myself, because I think he might be the right answer too.

I think that's your numbers one and two, with Vaughan at three.

Joe. That was a great post. I saw Billy Knight in his heyday. Charles Smith was great but I give the nod to Billy. Great shot. Hi arc. Great great jumper. Smart. And a good guy. Absolutely nothing against Charles Smith but if the three-point line was in existence, Billy would’ve averaged over 25 a game. I also agree that Vaughn would be number three on my list. For his size he was a great rebounder and just a great scorer. Again. He would’ve averaged over 25 points a game with the three-point line. I would rate Brandon Knight fourth because he led The rise of our program from mediocrity. I would write him over Blair because he played for four years. I vaguely remember Don Hennon but didn’t see enough of him to include him in my rankings.

as an aside. Some of the greatest basketball I saw played in Pittsburgh was The Duquesne Dukes of the 1970s. The game’siat the Civic Arena on Sunday afternoon during that time against Villanova, Saint Bonaventure, etc. were Legendary. Mossie Murphy
