Very good win today. Why all the credit Davidson was getting by announcers etc. is beyond me. They are an A-10 team with A-10 talent. OK, they can shoot 3's . Are they even that much better than Duquesne, Dayton, Bonnies and others? Well, they certainly could bury St. John's this year LOL. They are well coached, execute pretty well, and obviously have shooters. However, live by the three, DIE by the three. You gotta have more than that and they didn't today obviously.

Pitt on the other hand has far better talent and it showed today. We weren't perfect, but we do have
offensive firepower and depth. Our D looked very good at times. Stopping their guards as opposed to say an ACC pg like Barber from NC St is a horse of a different color though. Which leads me to ask...where do other posters see us as opposed to the ACC elite? IMO. I see Duke, UNC, Virginia and probably Louisville, asteams better than us. However I see us with a far greater learning curve and room to improve than some of those teams. Duke, and UNC have elite talent obviously. Virginia executes on BOTH ends of the floor and makes very few mistakes. Louisville?...Only seen em once...they're good and have Pitino (like him or not he CAN coach). Some others...N.D. ,NC ST Miami, Fla. St.. It'll be real interesting how we do against them. IMO those are the teams that we can see where we really are. I know, I know we beat UNC, ND, and the Cuse last year, but we also lost to those others and Clemson and VT.

I like what I see, and I also like how Dixon has changed his stripes (despite many on here saying he can'tor won't). This team gets up the floor and has shooters. Now our D?? I'm definitely not convinced. You didn't see any zone today....not with those outside shooters LOL. This will be interesting as we get into league play.

You appear to have a general impression that the worst ACC team is better than the best A10 team. This is not true.

For illustration--

Sagarin's computer has Davidson (#3 in A10) better than--

NC State, GaTech, Syracuse, Wake Forest, VA Tech, Clemson and Boston College

I guess you could infer that from what I wrote, but that wasn't what I meant. You make a good point
though, especially watching GW beat us last year in the NIT. I'd say VT and BC are this year's worst
in the ACC. Yup, I'm sure they're a few teams in the A-10 better. I gotta agree with ya!

Sagarin's computer also has A10 #1 Dayton better than ND and Fla St and A10 #2 Geo Wash better than Fla St.

Ok...but do YOU believe it? LOL

I do. I believe the Sagarin and other computer rankings are better than the human perception polls now that 8-10 games have been played by every team and the pre-season starting bias is almost filtered out. They also will get even better as the season goes on the more games that are played.

I think the magnitude of today's win was somewhat of an aberration. We had a better than usual outing and they played worse than usual. I also think we were a bad matchup for them due to the length of our guards and wings.

I think if we played them 10 times the typical margin would be closer to15 points vs today's 25.

I do think we are in the top 6 in the ACC (in no particular order UVA, Duke, UNC, Louisville, Miami, Pitt) and better than any A10 team.

I don't know. Some areas for the most part seem improved.
Key will be Pitt outside shooting.
