How about eliminate FCS games and allow college teams to have an exhibition game or 2 before the season starts?

ugh, I want no parts of FCS games in mid or late season like the SEC does. Only thing worse than playing an FCS Scrimmage on labor day weekend is playing an FCS Scrimmage in late October.. maybe second week, if you want to push that labor day weekend thing but that's it, no later than week 2..

LIke PhPanther said though, how about ridding this garage all together and playing an actual 12 game schedule and not an 11 game one and lying to us about a scrimmage being a real game?

reading the article, this sounds like a one time thing though, just to push the unveiling of the network.. not an annual plan..

Honestly, Pitt would be better off just playing 6 home games then. A late season fcs here is nonsensical.

could you possibly imagine the crowd for a late October/early November noon game against new Hampshire or ysu? Oh man, that would be something else.

This is unfortunately another area where college sports maddeningly keeps one foot in the penthouse and one in the outhouse. It's pro sports in so many aspects, actually a better (or at least more entertaining) than its NFL and NBA counterparts, but then maintains this annoying variability where schedules and strengths can be arbitrary. No other standard than the 12 game limit (and whatever particular setups individual conferences have for their own play, which is also arbitrary). Imagine the NFL where AFC North have to play each other home and home but otherwise every other game is left up to whim of each team, and some could even choose to play one or more semi-pro teams instead of other NFL teams... yecch.

I'd be in favor of allowing FCS scrimmages for Spring Games. This would get those programs their much needed game check and would serve as a much more entertaining spring afternoon.

that would be very cool way to end spring ball. hell, even have 1/2 your team scrimmage one fcs team and the other 1/2 scrimmage another. wvu under nehlen used to have his walk ons scrimmage Fairmont St (I think it was Fairmont) at mountaineer stadium in the spring. it would be sweet, a few of my buddies were walk ons so the fans from the opposing team would be on one side and me and my 2 buddies would be the fans on the other. you guys think sneaking beer into a stadium is tough now, try concealing a case when you make up 100% of the fan base. of course there were no employees or security and the gates were open.

Teel article on what is likely to be the main topic at the ACC spring meetings. Enhancing the early weeks, especially week 1, ACC schedules to further push the 2019 launch of the ACC channel.

Instead of front loading FCS games like in the past, ACC will focus on scheduling ACC conference games or enhanced OOC games earlier in the season much like the SEC did in 2014.
Step One: Adding value for ESPN. Good for the ACC and ACCN and ESPN!
Step Two: Schedule Early Nearby Programs To Fill Stadiums Atmosphere!
Step Three: Bring back WVU, PSU, ND, For Some Rotating Games!
Step Four: Consider Adding Later MSU, Wisky, IOWA, OSU 1 Series!
Step Five: Add SEC Schools 1 Series Too Later Rotation!

(Not All At Once On Rotations Series 1 to 2 Per Year)

Anything that adds value to the ACC adds value to Pitt!
