ACC Schedule released... UVA is the Aug. 31 opponent

Overall bizarre if you ask me. Some have multiple home or way games in a row. BC to finish? At least Pitt somewhat balanced home/away.

Is homecoming going to be Miami or Delaware? We usually have it the first weekend or two in October. I would personally choose Delaware as the weather would be nicer and maybe we get 5000 more the blue hen game

There are also two bye weeks, which is simply a product of the way the calendar falls.

Seven home games is good and should always be that . Just about every game on this schedule is winnable and could be lost and that includes Ohio U. That could be one of those trap games between the opener with a very improved UVA team and the last battle with PSU. Every year Solich has that team winning eight or nine games and they return a outstanding veteran Qb as well. Another dumb
move by Steve P. When he fired him. If our offense can click early we can go at least 4-1 for the first month. Disappointed we are not playing the teams with new coaches ( Ga. Tech and UNC ) earlier in the season especially Tech with their new offense. It's time for a Pitt team to step up and put together a good season and not just a streak of good football like last years squad.

8/31 UVA -buccos away
9/7 OHIO-buccos home 7p
9/14 at PSU
9/21 UCF-buccos away
9/28 DELAWARE-buccos home 7p
10/5 at Duke
10/18 at Syracuse (Fri)
10/26 MIAMI
11/2 at Ga Tech
11/14 UNC (Thu)
11/23 at Va Tech
11/30 BC

Overall decent schedule. Wish there was a week between the UPS and UCF game. Two tough games back to back.....

The other good news is that in the past playing Ga Tech was such a unique experience that it requires extra prep before and then the next week teams tend to be flat after playing them Not so much anymore.

Very manageable but challenging schedule.

Guys, this might be the year we truly take the step next. This is actually the first time I've seen this schedule and jeez its an easy one. Can absolutely see 10 wins next year:

8/31 UVA (W)
9/7 OHIO (W)
9/14 at PSU (Toss up, lets just say W for the time being)
9/21 UCF (W; they are losing all of Frost's players and wont be nearly as good)
9/28 DELAWARE(W)
10/5 at Duke (W; we always beat them)
10/18 at Syracuse (L; they're good. Dino is a hell of a coach)
10/26 MIAMI (L; they got Martell who is a baller)
11/2 at Ga Tech (W)
11/14 UNC (W; we finally get it done)
11/23 at Va Tech (W ; VT trending downward big time)
11/30 BC (W)

With Dungey gone, Syracuse will be back to the 4-8/5-7 team they were before.

Glad were not finishing with Miami.. Got tired of that

For attendance purposes, its best to get Miami off of Thanksgiving weekend. No Pitt fans go to it. On October 26, if both teams are good, could be a nice crowd. 10K-15K larger than if it were the last game.

Kinda sick of playing UNC on Thursday nights. Our home Thursday night record is abysmal.

Yea nobody wants to tune in to a half empty stadium on TV on Thursday night. Why they keep giving us those games doesn't make any sense.. On the road I don't mind but we don't turn out for them at home

Agree, at first liked having a steady last game, but like the rotating better I think.
Do the Pitt.NC thurs games get good ratings or something? Pitt has to get a home thurs due to no fridays I guess, but why always NC?

This is doable and we could have a breakout year.

I agree with U pitt 89 about Syracuse.
I believe we win the Cuse game, and maybe lose the Nitter or UCF game ( I hope not).

Hopefully the new OC will be a difference maker in some of the close contests.

Go PITT & CSU Rams!

I think Dino is a great coach tho. Look what he did for Dungy, you gotta believe that his next QB (who he recruited) will not be that much of a step back.

The guy who replaced Dungey only played in the last 3 quarters against Notre Dame.... and was AWFUL.
False. There was a mini QB controversy after he came in post-injury and saved the UNC game. He's highly regarded by CUSE, poor ND performance aside.

How are you guys seriously saying 8-10 wins? We have a QB that has no pocket presence and struggles to throw. We have a completely new/inexperienced OL to protect our happy feet QB. We have a new OC who relies heavily on throwing the ball apparently.

How does that add up as a recipe for success to any of you? If Narduzzi/Whipple can get 9-10 wins, he should be ACC coach of the year. This staff has their work cut out for them this year.

But he played extremely well I'm relief against UNC. His other spot duties weren't bad too. I realize UNC was hot garbage but Dungy was struggling and this kid came in and saved that game.

This is actually my favorite time of the year. A few weeks have passed. Everyone forgets the inadequacies this team has. Forgets what we have lost. They start making predictions for 10 wins. Hype builds. This is a 6 win team talent wise. The ACC will give us a chance for 7

No more cut out than this past season. Most did not see more than 4 wins if honest with themselves.

Your skepticism is not without justification for reasons you cite. But I think all those same things would be true if Watson were retained, and the all-line- plunge-all- the- time, roll-out-Pickett-to-no-purpose strategy that inexplicably won those mid season games last season, could not have ever worked again. In this case, the great unknown is more hopeful than the status quo would have been. For sure "things can be worse" ... but with the same offense and coach and same QB (and i bet a million bucks Duz would never have switched from Pickett), i'd predict 4 wins at best again. At least with a new coach and system, maybe he'll rebound, maybe we'll be more dynamic (and sooner). Or we'll stink. But there would have been no "or" about it otherwise.

But yeah 10 (even 8) wins is kinda crazy.

This 4 win teams you talk about showed you last year that wins are possible. Even with no passing game, Pickett only now has more experience and a better coach , the coaching of Whipple will make or break what Pickett does this year, we had a whole new o line last year and they stepped up, same coaching from line coach will be fine. Running backs will be fine as well too. I peg 8 wins yes, but still with the schedule etc. Any thing is possible from 3 wins to 10 wins anyway in between. But to say the team is only a 4 win talent team is just nuts. The kids work hard and are talented when put in the right situations. Have to wait and see.

I see the ridiculous expectations of 10 wins are starting. Just win 8 and I’ll be fairly happy.
Only took 2 weeks into the year for the first 10 win prediction....
Lmao

So must be time to predict then

The usual,
6-6

Living up to The legacy inspired and put into place by the KillerBs/Parachute Petey/The Eggheads.....

I think there's talent there too. I think the offense Watson/ Duz saddled them with should only have garnered 4 to 5 wins at most (they never threw the ball to 80% of the field!). I give due credit for the mid season streak but attribute it more to poor defensive coaching by our opponents. It should never have worked.

So that is why the unknown of the new coach and offense gives me mor hope than the status quo would have. I think Duz saw it too. Miami and Clemson showed how to easily beat Watson's offense...just run-blitz the hell out us. Every play. We had no capacity to make you pay through the air especially in the middle of the field.

Plus, there were too many sloppy presnap penalties: that alone, you figure to get better.

But that said we don't have talent to assume 10 wins. Not this year. The first month or so will be slow as feet get wet.

I'll say 7. Wth Watson, i'd have said 4 to 5.

If Narduzzi is the right guy, then he needs to win 8 or more games this year.

I don't even know if 8 or any number matters. They need to look like a more complete team next year EVERY WEEK. 3 levels of defense that can make stops. An offense that can run and pass on a weekly basis. These are his guys now, and his coaches need to squeeze the orange to get the juice out of them.

I don't want to see repeats of the past couple years where DL couldn't get pressure for part of the season, then issue shifted to LB's were slow non athletic stiffs, then shifted to CB's who couldn't turn around or safeties who were lost or slow.

I also don't want to see a team who ran it as much as Watson did last year. You need balance, screen passes to rb's, power running, passing to te's over the middle, stretching the defense with the long ball. Have a complete playbook for the offense!

Not a fan of weeknight games. Besides they suck to attend, does anyone watch football on Friday nights? Thursday night college football also lost all of it's luster with NFL TNF. Only one set of back-to-back road games is nice.
