ACC/SEC Challenge Thread

I think SMU has a shot. Good win over Wazzou.

SMU, FSU, Wake, NC St, Louisville (even with the injuries)

Can one of those 4 make it, get us to a 5 big league?
I've see Wake a few times and they are thoroughly unimpressive. I thought they were supposed to be in the conversation for #3 in the ACC this year.

If you played us at The Pete last year, we were a Quad 1 team so that doesn't really change.

Speaking of teams playing us at The Pete. We play Clemson there and I was thinking this could be the year we finally beat them and then and then Schiefflein rips down 20 rebounds. The dude is a beast. Really worried about our rebounding in certain games. Tonight is one.
True, but now Pitt is also a q1 on the road. Last year they would have been q2.

That doesn't matter because we are talking about 1 game and the ONLY thing that matters is how much this game affects the NET of Pitt and their opponents. This one game will not have an affect on Pitt or its opponents' NETs of more than 1.

Great result for Pitt tonight. Need LSU to be as good as possible. FSU looks for real though. In the sense they could be ACC #5 or ACC #6.

ACC 0-9 so far. Clemson may get a Big W. Wake really misses Boopie and Andrew Carr.

It was clearly a great night for the ACC. Tennessee winning was big for Louisville, Virginia and Miami. Georgia winning was good for Georgia Tech. Oklahoma winning was good for Louisville. LSU winning was good for us and SMU. South Carolina winning was good for Virginia Tech and Clemson. That's almost half the conference getting a boost from all the SEC teams winning.

Tonight we need Auburn to win to help out North Carolina, Florida to win to help out Florida State, Wake and North Carolina, Texas to win to help out Syracuse, Mississippi State to win to help out SMU, and Vanderbilt to win to help out Cal.

If the ACC can just keep losing games they'll probably get a dozen teams in the NCAA tournament!

Actually Cuse losing to Tenn did boost their NET by like 15.

Literally laughed out loud. Good work.

However, what you don't realize is those ACC teams you mentioned LOST. We beat LSU so we need THAT all-important non-con win to look as good as possible. Had LSU beat us, I'd say, root for FSU because we want FSU to be as good as possible for when we (hopefully) beat them.

Non-conference games and especially wins are so important. Its why UVa got in over us last year even though we won head to head and had a stronger SOS, and better wins. They extra-weighted their non-con wins.

The shine is coming off our big Quad1 OSU win tonight. OSU currently getting doubled up 34-68 by Maryland with about 11 minutes to go in 2nd half.

OSU isnt that bad. Not sure what's going on. They are a tournament team.
Just goes to show you, nothing’s a given as to how a team’s season is going to play out. So many teams are Jekyll and Hyde.

Our Panthers are no different. Our defense against Wisky looked great 1st half and pathetic 2nd half. Our defense against OSU looked pathetic 1st half and great 2nd half.

Cut it to 24. At least Maryland is 17 in net. Shouldn’t hurt Pitt too bad tomorrow.

It doesn't really matter for "tomorrow." 1 individual game of an opponent won't move Pitt more than a spot on Selection Sunday when it matters. You just dont want OSU to make a habit of this. Our D was so bad vs Wisky (2nd Half) and OSU (1st Half) that I hope those were one-offs.

Wait, so is it good when ACC team win or when they lose? Because sometimes you think it's good for them to lose, and other times you think it's good for them to win.

Because you don't understand how this all works.

These Challenge results shouldn’t be a shocker.

The SEC’s premier programs are coached by Calipari, Nate Oats, Bruce Pearl, Rick Barnes, etc

The ACC’s national brand programs are coached by Adrian Autry, Ron Sanchez, Pat Kelsey, Hubert Davis, Jon Scheyer, etc
