There is enough talent here to compete with most teams in this league.

You don’t actually believe that, do you? If you changed “most” to “a few” I’d have no quarrel. this is not a P5 roster. It’s basically bringing a butter knife to a gunfight.

A lot depends on how
well Capel can get these
players to jell. As I've
posted throughout this
and other threads, Pitt
has "average" D1 talent.
The good news for Pitt
is the ACC is down and
WF, BC, and Pitt are not
the only lousy teams. The
middle of the ACC used
to have fairly strong teams
that were vying for a NCAA
tourney bid. IMO that is not
the case this coming year.
Pitt can be "competitive"
with this group. How may
can we win? I won't predict
until I see what they look
like in real game time.

I actually do. I see a very questionable league after the few teams that are always at the top. I am not saying we finish 500 or above. What I am saying is we will get beat by the top teams as usual. I think after the top 4 or 5 teams we should be competitive with the rest. As Chescat mentioned above, how many can we win? If Capel gets them to play as a team, I think we win more games than you expect. I say we win 7 to 9 conference games. How many ACC wins do you expect?

I’ll go with 4-5. Can’t think of an ACC team with a weaker roster.

Maybe not weaker per se,
but there are two or three
as weak as Pitt. BC is bad
along with their coaching
changes. WF is better but
IMO still bad. Clemson and
GT are also weak. ALL of
these teams lost players
and like us had to re stock
with transfers along with
their h.s. recruits.

Again IMO, success for this
group (including Pitt) will
be determined by how well
their coaches can get the
new pieces to jell. The ACC
was down last year, and it's
even worse this year. Pitt
has plenty of company at
the lower level of the league.

Once again, no pre season
prediction from me until I
see them in real game time.
