Steelers were favored to beat the Ravens 2 LOL, GOD that 1 pissed me off.
Perception is huge in high school kids minds, its fact, the best want to play with the best so until the ACC positions itself as a top football conference it will hurt Pitts ability to attract the best players like it or not.
I still want Louisville to get crushed, for being chosen undeserving over us for the Music City Bowl.
I do hope Clemson wins it all, so that Pitt has a chance to knock them off next season.

What these other ACC teams do in a bunch of inconsequential minor bowls has no bearing on Pitt recruiting whatsoever. That's frankly stupid sounding like it or not. lol
The ACC is already a power 5 conference.
This at least is rational. If FSU and Clemson both win there can be some perceptual benefit to the league as a whole. Still won't help our recruiting. Winning Monday may have.
I enjoyed watching UNC get boat raced last night. Why should we want them going into the off season feeling good about things?
It's called the perception of our league, which I think most of us want to be as good as possible.
I know I do. I'd love it if the ACC had as good a bowl record as possible. Translates to better pre season projections, rankings, etc.
That is probably true............having a winning record as a league can't hurt either.
The only thing that matters is how the ranked teams in every league do in their bowls. Whether a bad Duke team beats a bad IU team in OT in a meaningless bowl counts for exactly nothing IMO. Whereas when a top ACC team like UNC gets absolutely run off the field by a significantly lower ranked B12 team playing its 4th string QB and second string TB, that says a lot more about the quality of your league.
The truth is, outside of the SEC, the rest of the P5 leagues are all pretty similar most years. Top heavy with 2-4 legitimately good teams, and the rest are the rest. This year, the ACC was Clemson, FSU and UNC. UNC has been proven to be fraudulent . Padded regular season record courtesy of playing a weak OOC and playing in one of the weaker divisions in P5. Let's see how the big boys do.

I coached college football at one time and think i know how young kids think! Big ten recruiting has gone up each of the last 3 years. Most due to Myers, OSU national championship, and now Harbaugh, but even Ped State will benefit from it which hurts us.
Maryland and Rutgers have made strong hires and the better the Big does the more difficult it will be for Pitt to recruit outside of the WPIAL which is and will always be poached by other schools.
What the ACC teams do in bowls does matter and if you think it doesn't your nuts.. Yes i get it, hard to cheer for teams you hate, but come bowl season IMO its as much about the league as it is about the team.
The league looks better with every win. Big game or small. That's about the only thing the Big East could hang their hat on in football. They won bowl games.
I caught the end of a sports show in my area. I thought I heard that Clemson sent 3 players home.Not sure if they were starters.
While it is nice to be on a conference that does well against outside competition, nothing compensates for our team playing well
By 8pm tomorrow night, the ACC will be 5-4.

Alabama beats MSU. Dantonio had a good season, made it to the finals without Narduzzi. But they will not be able to run against that Bama front.

That's my thought as well. That Bama D is a monster. I'm a MSU fan secondary to Pitt but I think this one will get ugly. Bama wins it all.
Not so sure about Clemson v Okie. I have been looking for a reason to doubt Clemson all year, and other than the fact that Dabo is their coach, I can't find one. Maybe this is the year Dabo silences all his doubters. I do think Clemson is legit #2 and has the best chance of anyone in the playoff at beating Bama, but it's not gonna happen. Reports are that Bama is laser focused, they are taking a much more hard assed approach this year after last year's embarassment. Frankly I think MSU is gonna get donkey punched tomorrow night.
You may be right I thought MSU was overrated all year then the beat OSU with a long drive and kick. MSU is good and don't forget OSU kicked ass last year. Football is weird.
Not sure how much conference records mean unless it's consistent. I'd be more interested in a running average if that even mattered. You also need to understand how many coaches are somewhat new to the conference. There are many in year one or two and quite a few that haven't even started yet.
What is the ACC bowl record this year? I known duke beat a 6 win Hoosier team in ot, but the 2 5-7 big ten bowlers won their game, and Wisconsin just took down a ranked USC.

Looking really weak---FS has given up 21 in the 1st half---defenses have been shredded--thanks to l'ville for stopping the bleeding---that's why I think Clemson will go down today---they are the winners of a weak conference and will be not prepared for what Oklahoma brings

Let's just be honest here-Clenson is an excellent team, the rest of the ACC sucks this year. Or do you believe that the Duke or VT wins offset the performance of the top ACC teams, FSU or UNC ?

And Duke and VT's wins are just as good as Nebraska and Minnesota's.
FSU played a quarter with their 3rd string QB today and the rest of the game with their 2nd string QB who was playing on one leg. Gigantic asterisk on that game.
And don't bet your house against Clemson. Alabama destroyed MSU because MSU has a statue for a QB. A mobile QB like Watson is an entirely different animal.
If you think it will be a double digit win, give me Clemson and 10 points for $100.
So your asterisks only apply to ACC teams? Or does it matter equally that A$M was on its 3rd string QB, a guy who had only had a bit of garbage time before that game?
As I said. Clemson will give Bama a better game than MSU for sure- mostly because of the sensational Watson and their excellent D, but Bama will win comfortably. THE Bama D will be ready for Watson and anything else Clemson wants to throw at them. If they can stop the run and pressure Coker, they have a slim chance. look what good stopping the run did for MSU last night.
The problem at A&M is all of the prior coach's players have left and Sumlin is in over his head. The QBs leaving isn't all on Sumlin. These QBs are spoiled starting at a young age thinking they are great and should be playing. God forbid you have to compete for something in life.

Thanks but I'll wait until the line comes out and since it's alteady Bama -7, I'll bet with the Vegas odds. If it' gets under 6, I'll put a lot more than 100 on it. Plus I'll actually get paid when I win.
