Life is full of risk but I think we can manage this one ok!I'd be really concerned if they sell alcohol to the non club level seats for the game against Penn State. Like it or not, Pitt has some poorly behaved fans, and many Penn State fans are disgusting, so that won't end well.

Just stay away from the rowdy people.
Others enjoy being with a rowdy lively crowd.
Bottom line the worst case scenario is some people get beer thrown at them.
Happens every game in a lot of NFL parks like the Eagles and Ravens dumps.
Probably.I think this game is particularly susceptible of getting out of hand.
Not sure about that!Heinz, just like Three rivers, as well as Starlake amphitheatre and PNC park, have a BYOB policy, always have. It's kind of hush hush though, think of the military's "don't ask don't tell" and convert it, sort of "if we cant see it, it doesn't exist." I recommend putting it in hood of sweatshirt, they never pat your hoodie.. In summer/warmer months, putting down crotch of your pants and when yellow jacket guy is ready to pat you down, compliment his eyes.. A man will not want to grab your crotch if you compliment his eyes
Florida had over 90K at 6 of their games last season. I'll stick with my original opinion in that selling the club seats at Heinz makes the most $$ for the University and right now one of its biggest attractions is the availability of alcohol. If those sell out, then I have no problem opening up beer sales to the rest. Until then, you devalue the most profitable seats in the stadium. JMO.Florida just approved alcohol sales at Ben Hill Griffin
If the Gators can do it......at the very least it lends strong support for Pitt to do the same.
Personally....im against this, as this is one of the differences (and benefits) of a Pitt game Vs the Steelers.....but no one cares about anything but the cabbage............
I used to do the flask but it would get hot in my pocket.. Swigging hot Jameson on a September day just doesn't do it for me.. My record was 11 cans of beer into a steve miller/doobie brother concert at starlake, that was pre 9/11 though. Had em all down my pants, I looked like the tin man from wizard of oz walking thru the gate.. The hood is an underused resource on cold games, put 2 or 3 cans in your hoodie, they won't pat down the back of your neck..I sneak booze into Heinz Field at will whenever I feel like it. That being said, I'd rather buy beer.
There might be some aspects of jail they'd enjoyProbably.
The real contentious stuff will probably take place at tailgates and in the pre and post game bar activities.
I remember the Cinny games were always a " watch your back" atmosphere around Heinz.
Lots of security at Heinz and even Nitters don't want to go to jail which is where you end up if you misbehave in the stadium.
Buying 1-2 beers in the stadium isn't going to make or break the shenanigans between PSU and Pitt Fans....
If heinz security can handle a Ravens Steelers game...i'm fairly certain they can handle Pitt and PSU.
Do it. It really can't hurt attendance or the atmosphere.
the more I think about it, the more I think it does nothing.. no one is buying a ticket because they sell beer all of a sudden.. I am more than happy drinking pre game and if I really want one in game, easy enough to bring one or two in.. Knowing pitt and Heinz field, they probably get a tiny cut of any concession anyways so revenue wont even go to them.. Maybe the only factor would be it would help get people in on time, I know I am one that is last to leave the lots which gets me in my seat 1/2 way thru 1st quarter..I want to be careful with my position here so that it is not misunderstood. I am legitimately torn on the issue. I am leaning towards selling booze inside the stadium but it is not the slam dunk that so many insist.
I think one's view on selling booze inside the stadium depends on your personal situation. If we were talking only about adults I would agree that selling beer inside the stadium is a complete no-brainer. However, that's not what we're talking about, is it?
Families – specifically young families – comprise a large percentage of attendees at a typical Pitt football game and the easy-going atmosphere is a major part of it's appeal to those folks.
Selling booze inside the stadium absolutely can hurt attendance if people are getting drunk and acting like idiots in front of other people's children. Those people are not coming back to subject their kids to that crap and there are simply not enough people to go to the games because of the beer for that to be anything other than a financial loss for Pitt.

wow, that is a classy woman there.. yikes..Let me use an example: my family has had a huge block of Steelers season tickets going all the way back to whenever they still played at Pitt Stadium. I have been attending Panthers games on Saturdays and Steelers games on Sundays for as long as I can remember.
It is just what we've always done.
Also, we are Irish and fit all of the stereotypes. We have cops and priests in our family, and more than a few drunks in our family too. I once joked to my dad, whenever you could joke about such things, that perhaps we should consider changing our last name to Dewey given the number of DUIs my uncles and aunts had racked up.
The point is we are not exactly teetotalers.
However, the atmosphere at Steelers home games has dramatically changed over the years. It used to be a great family atmosphere that was ultimately all about football. Don't get me wrong, it was never Disney World. However, neither was it Donzi's ( is that still around?).
However, in recent years that has changed. From my vantage point, somewhere along the line, the game has become secondary to far too many fans. Now it's all about being at a party or being seen. It's weird and I don't like it at all.
Night games in particular are just ridiculous. I have two small children and I would never even consider bringing them to a Monday Night Football game because it wouldn't be fair to subject them to that nonsense before they're old enough to understand it.
I went to a Steelers night game a few years ago against Baltimore and when I went to take a leak, I inadvertently walked into very uncomfortable situation in which some random slut was giving a guy a BJ in the bathroom.
I know people think that's great and it sounds great in theory. However, it wasn't cool at all in reality and I would've been pissed had I encountered that nonsense with my three-year-old son in tow.
Now, obviously that is an extreme example – I've never seen anything remotely like that before. However, I did see it and it would never happen without so much booze being available.
I won't take either of my little boys to a Steelers game until they are at least 10–12 years old. I think it would be irresponsible of me to subject them to that craziness beforehand.
Was she a Steelers or Ravens fan? If a Steelers girl I hope she had her large terrible towel with her!Let me use an example: my family has had a huge block of Steelers season tickets going all the way back to whenever they still played at Pitt Stadium. I agree with your premise but the people you are referring too are usually getting drunk on something other than $7.00 beers and are going to act like A holes one way or anotherI want to be careful with my position here so that it is not misunderstood. Swervin27 its sounds like the woman you met at Jacks that you mentioned in another thread???Unfortunately, they were both Steelers fans and they were both dressed ridiculously. He had on some goofy hat and she was wearing a black and gold feather boa and a crazy tassels and she had on skintight Steelers pants.
She looked like a woman in her 30s who was trying to look younger than that. Just complete trash.
Honestly, it was so surreal that I didn't realize what was happening at first. I couldn't figure out why there were 2-3 guys next to me yelling at the bathroom stall adjacent to them.
The couple eventually came out and they were not nearly as sheepish as one might have expected. They rushed out of the bathroom to a chorus of jeers and cheers and, I am not joking about this, she was wiping her mouth as she was leaving the stall.
It really was stomach turning.

Another really weird bathroom story that was also offputting happened at a Penguins game when they still played at the Civic Arena.
As many of you may recall, the Civic Arena didn't have individual urinals. Instead it had piss troughs, kinda like they had at old Pitt Stadium.
Anyway, sometime in the late 90s I was at a game and I go down to take a leak. No big deal – I have done that many times.
I am in the bathroom all alone whenever another guy walks in and stands right next to me. Those bathrooms were not small and it was bizarre behavior for someone to not take advantage of that spaciousness.
.
Hate to see those pants when he pulled them back up.Another really weird bathroom story that was also offputting happened at a Penguins game when they still played at the Civic Arena.

Anyway, this dude - who, I'd guess, was his late 50's - walks in and instead of taking advantage of any one of 500 better/further away options, he moseys right next to me and begins talking to me as though we were old friends or were resuming a previous conversation. Honestly, it was so strange that at first I thought he had mistaken me for someone else.
Nope, he was just that friendly and also just that cray-cray.
I don't want to misrepresent this story. His behavior, while bizarre, wasn't sexual or creepy or anything like that. I was not threatened in the least. He was mostly complaining about the Penguins' feeble power-play – I will never forget that. The entire encounter was just immediately strange.
Then, seconds later, he proceeded to drop his pants to his ankles and place his hands on hips while he pissed into the trough – all while continuing to yammer on about our power play.
If I didn't know any better I would've thought I was being punked or something like that. Either that or he was a some foreigner of some sort. However, nope, neither of those things were true. He talked like you and me and it was clear but he was just bat shit crazy and I happened to be in the bathroom when he did too.
It is very funny in retrospect but at the time it was deeply disturbing. I got the hell out of there as quickly as I could.
Or sit right in front of you in an empty movie theater.Hate to see those pants when he pulled them back up.
The liquid on the floor under the trough urinal isn't water.
Usually!
Kinda like the people who park next to you when the lot is empty or put their beach towel and umbrella 2 ft from you when the beach is wide open.
I have that beat.. was at muppets movie a year or two ago, granted it was pretty filled up, not completely filled but about 75% filled.. daughter sitting 2 in, me stitting one in and 2 year old son sitting on end.. 30 minutes of previews my little man wants to sit on my lap, so I tell him OK but once movie starts you are back in your seat.. Freakin adult comes in and sits down right next to me in his seat.. Wanted to kill the guy.. First off, why in the hell is an adult, by himself, going to see the muppets and secondly, he could have easily seen what was going on..Or sit right in front of you in an empty movie theater.![]()
