Penn State vs Notre Dame

the wordsmith Tomlin, for example, is.
Halle Berry said years ago that randomly using words from the dictionary doesn't make you look smart, it makes you look ridiculous.

Agree to disagree. I've seen him pause and search for words before having to resort to some pretty generic/simplistic rhetoric.

I also think he's getting blown out of proportion right now thanks to an incredibly simple path to the championship game.
Simple path? Compared to who?

They had to beat 2 of the best 3 teams in the B1G and the #2 team from the SEC to get there. No bye, no weak ass Boise State, Clemson, Tennessee, ASU or SMU, none of that. What do you want them to do, pull the KC Chiefs or Detorit Lions into the thing so they can play an opponent you consider to be legitimate?

As for his pause and search, you're judging him on postgame on-field interviews? I've seen examples of what you're talking about in those--and it has looked very much to me that he was about to say something that he thought the better of saying, so he stops himself and comes up with a quick watered down filler answer to avoid saying anything that might offend someone or embarrass his team or school.

As for the military stuff, his dad was a 30 year Air Force guy. Not sure if you know the kids of any career military parents, but they are raised a certain way, and it stays with them their entire lives. It's authentic, it's who he is, hes not putting on some act.

Not sure what axe it is you have to grind with a guy who is universally respected as one of the best young head coaches in the game of college football. Just another ND hater?

Brian Kelly went 32-5 in his last 3 years at Notre Dame. Freeman is 33-9, with losses to Marshall, a 3-9 Stanford team, and Northern Illinois.

He's done a solid job at ND, but nothing special. Of course, a win January 20th changes all that, but at this point, it's pretty much been status quo.

Their regular season schedule was weaker than it has been in how many years?

Indiana sucks. Full stop. If you're saying Clemson and Tennessee are easier draws than freaking Indiana, we strongly disagree.

Georgia was without its quarterback, so I'd say that's catching a break.

And Penn State is a decent team, but would you rather play Penn State, Ohio State, or Texas?

This isn't even one of ND's better teams as of late. Kudos to them for taking advantage of a favorable draw in what has been a down year for college football.

And yeah, I am a Notre Dame hater. Most people who don't root for them are. That's sports.

The Joe PA karma will bite the peds in the ass for years to come. He was lucky and bit the dust before he had to face the music. The peds have years of bad karma ahead of them!

I'll say unequivocally that Clemson was an easier mark than IU this year. They played nobody, beat nobody, lost to three nobodies. Hell a reeling Pitt team with Nate Yarnell at QB even took them to the wire.

This was for sure a down year in college football. Start with the best coach in college football history stepping down from the best program in modern college football history and turning it over to a guy who clearly can't fill his shoes. Arguably every draw in this CFP was "favorable" with the exception of OSU catching Oregon in the 2nd round--and Oregon was never a legit #1.

Georgia was better with Beck at QB but not by much. He is the SEC version of Drew Allar and was QB was UGA's weakest link this season, WR a close second. ND also manhandled their OL all game.

There are teams I detest as well, but I try to always maintain my objectivity when assessing their quaility or lack thereof. All any team and coach can do is play the teams in front of them and try to win. ND has made it to the final. That speaks for itself, any year.

Well, Clemson did beat SMU. I absolutely don't think that's a great win by any means, but what was Indiana's best win? If beating nobody is a blackmark on a resume, then Indiana's can be tipped in a bucket of tar.

I don't see Freeman as being all that articulate. I think he tries to assume that military, all-business persona, but then he opens his mouth and he's not exactly the wordsmith Tomlin, for example, is.

Obviously he's not as poorly-spoken as Narduzzi, but who is?
I can see why some don’t think he is as articulate as Teflon Mike because he doesn’t talk in jingles that impresses low Iq people.

How will you prove it? There are many ways to manipulate IP addresses, you think Peak could answer definitively?

Kalen DeBoer was in the title game a year ago. Clearly Saban wasn't going to be able to navigate the current landscape with anywhere near the success he had in the past. If he thought he would do so, he would still be at Alabama. DeBoer is 113-16 overall. His resume speaks for itself. Besides, Kirby Smart had already taken over the pole position of big dog in the SEC, as Saban's teams hadn't been able to dominate the line of scrimmage in years. (since Kirby was his DC)

I heard a podcast with Kevin Scarbinsky, who said he spoke with Saban not too long after his retirement. According to Scarbinsky, Saban said there was practically a conga line of players outside his office telling him what it would take to keep them in Tuscaloosa. Caleb Downs came in with some ridiculous figures and told Saban that if Bama couldn't come up with it, he was taking his talents to Columbus. According to Scarbinsky, that was the ultimate tipping point, but it was only a matter of time regardless, as Saban didn't really like anything about the direction of the game.

Peak's pretty smart so while he probably doesn't care, maybe?

at least you are replying, but not answering my questions

don't some posters simply have parallel ideas on things, nothing unique about what I've commented from what I see here

odd that you and Poker said this so while HE stands out, I hadn't noticed your posts doing so, which in comparison is a positive for you :)

ok, here you go.

1) Poker didn't take the chance - you? Sure, it would be easy money, but we don't have a good way of proving it.
2) no big deal, did he get under your skin? agree with anything he posted? have as interesting an avatar pic? Who are you referring to?

I read an article where Saban himself said the same thing about his decision to retire, he had his annual season-end meeting with his players that he always looked forward to and this time it was all "am I going to start and how much am I going to get paid." He said at that point it hit him that coaching wasn't going to be fun anymore.

DeBoer is a good coach, but he's replacing the undisputed GOAT, he's doing things his own way, not the way the GOAT did them there for 20 years. There was gonna be a dropoff, not sure anyone expected it to be as steep as it was.

A bunch of guys left after Saban announced his retirement. I think it's too early to dub DeBoer as a flat out failure. Alabama hadn't won the last four national championships with Saban there, which is a drought by their standards.
