All pitt bloggers including Matt just tweeted GW coach

Funny. I had a little birdie tell me his name and I threw it out on Monday. I don't know how much interest there is from Pitt and I never heard of him prior despite our NIT loss to GW.

Hopefully this comes to an end sooner than later.

Pitt fans only want a top coach but reality is the top option isn't always the best one,Sean Miller was Arizonia 4th option, and I can name more but whatever coach is hired regardless of where they are from is going to have an adjustment to make, but Pitt fans won't give him a chance unless he wins at all coasts and is a BIG time hire

Don't disagree but Barnes didn't do himself any favors with such bravado and blustery type statements. Both during the press conference and his appearance on The Fan the next day.

Too bad Barnes isn't like the lair and instead at the presser said "we will get some schmuck that no one else wants. Unfortunately we are doomed forever. Best we can hope for is to reclaim our cbi title."

-Good grief these guys and their "sources"

Bottom line is - as others have said - the new guy deserves a chance. But Barnes did paint himself Into a corner. Better to under promise and over deliver than the reverse.

And for all I know he may still deliver. But it seems less likely than it did originally. I hope I'm wrong.

Trying to find a silver lining to Lonegran is that
1. He is from ACC territory
2. He coached in ACC territory his entire career
3. He would have HS and Prep school contacts on the east coast
4. He has a Twitter account with over 2K tweets
5. He is balding, so the stress peak may be over for him
6. He makes great eye contact in the photos on the interweb
7. His record at the Pete is pretty good.

-2 NCAA Tournament Appearance in 11 seasons, LOL. This guys resume is worse than Herb Sendek.

Curtain. Here's where I agree with you 100%. This guy just screams disaster.
i see nothing on his resume that screams he needs to coach pitt, or coach in the ACC.

Cmon barnes. I'd much rather gamble on a chris collins, or a wojo, if need someone with ACC ties. This guy is the least inspiring name I've seen mentioned, and now that it seems like there is mutual interest, it's terrifying.

Look at Keatts' record and then look at Lonergan's. Seems to be clear who would be the better choice.

IMO... SC is right on this one.

I like Keatts' resume. I think that the Louisville scandal is going to hang him up for at least another season, or however long the NCAA wants to wait to punish Murray St for Louisville's hooker scandal.

I am not thrilled with any of the names mentioned, but I will support whomever Barnes hires. There will be a great opportunity for some hungry coach to make a name for himself at Pitt. Hopefully, we get to find out that guy's name very soon.

-Keatts loses 1 starter off this years team and 1 player in the entire rotation. Wilmington is going to completely boat race the entire conference next year and schedule next year, and might go to the Sweet 16 or better next year from Keatts impressive rebuild. Keatts will be at a Power 5 School or a Power School by the end of next year at the latest if he doesnt come to Pitt.

Hey, DT runs a mean motion offense and a tough M2M.:)

Was going to post this earlier, steel. Might as well make a hard play for him this year because everyone will be on him next year. Keatts has personality (like Duzzi on the fball side). We have some pretty darned good players in place coming back next year as well. This roster is NOT bereft of talent. I think Keatts would be a great hire.

The fact that many people on these boards agree with you tells us that there's no chance that he'll get the job.

-The only hold up is Louisville. He is getting screened right now. That's it. Im not Barnes, but I sound like a broken record, this guy would take Pitt to places most dream about. Interviews are set up, and a screening is taking place.

Is Keatts your BF or something. I like him as a candidate I would have in my top 5 for sure but he is no slam dunk. He has some big question marks. Short resume, level of competition, the U of L stuff. Let's not act like his Dean Smith, Wooden and Rupp wrapped up into one.

Top 5? Who is your other choices ?

Quite a departure from his sneaky predecessor, huh? Bombastic Barnes......maybe the guy who killed Pitt hoops??

NTOP I know you're disappointed Jamie's gone. But in fairness this needs to play out long past the actual hiring. I think he should have toned down the rhetoric since he didn't have anyone signed sealed and delivered but let's just see where this goes.

This would be about the worst candidate I could have imagined. Very much against Knight but would take him if he was the other side of this coin.

I'm really starting to think BK would be a much better choice than most these guys. I am however very intrigued by Enfield. For all those tired of Dixon's stale offensive style, he would bring a huge change in that department.
