Most of these choices could be argued and haggled over, simply because of Pitt's rich history of talent. Pretty nice job though. Pederson would get rid of Coca Cola and go with Faygo or some other off brand.

And if Graham needs an assistant washing jocks call up Paul "I can't" Hackett.

Yep, it is hard to defend those years after Bozik and the Chancellor that could not care less about Pitt at that time. Nordenberg was a vast improvement!

It was hard to choose All Time Pitt Team and it is because is a Top Ten Leader in producing Quality Excellence in College and Pros and New Recruits becoming better Players like Conner, Ollison, and Whitehead make it so tough and that is still a Tribute to Pitt in overcoming years of adversity as a Program and Teams with multiple Coaches.

Why Pat Narduzzi wanting to come to Pitt, knows the Region and History, pledging to stay at Pitt as recruited Hamlin, and has produced Great game Plans, attracted Top Assistant Coaches, with Sideline plus Half-Time Adjustments, No Quit Pitt attitude, far less off field problems, with far more film and class rooms studies, and stays in Dorms to get to know, care and measure his Recruits & Players is a refreshing mark difference from other Coaches.

As well as, a Smart Chancellor that listen to Pitt Alumni to seeing the Traditions at Pitt were just as important in meshing them with Re-Branding, and saw the wisdom to dump an Athletic Director that could not see it, would not do it, and had to be replaced by an Interim Doctor of Innovation that found a Coach in Weeks not Months and then chose another Athletic Director who knows his position is to support and promote them not himself?

If I missed any Pitt Greats feel free to augment or add your own listings.

-John Reger is a huge glaring omission. He had 3 Pro Bowls at LB, started for the Steelers, and was an All American at Pitt, I dont know why everyone forgets him at LB.

-Jeff Christy-C- 3 Pro Bowls

-Bill McPeak-DE-3 Pro Bowls

-Bill Maas-NT-2 Pro Bowls

I consider them all, but also looked at longevity in the NFL! Playing for years in the NFL is tougher than making Pro Bowls, and Pro bowls are becoming passe more every year. Many Top Players no longer want to go so they avoid wear, tear and injuries and are paid enough to now to go anytime to Hawaii on their own.

So, Back-Ups are replacing them as more decline to go All Pro.

Just my opinion, others can differ but in the 1980s average years in the NFL were 4.5 years (Pensions 5 Years)?

Today it is 2.5 years per average player and one only needs 3.5 years to qualify for a NFL Pension.

Playing 10 years or longer means you are a Great Player Today, in my opinion, add in NFL Records, Pro Bowls, Super Bowls, and Hall of Fames, plus CFB NCAA Records, All Americans, and Post Season Awards, one has solid evidence who belongs on All Time Teams?

just a guess not gospel!

You guys might think I'm crazy but, Pete Gonzalez was one of Pitt's best QB's! He just didn't have the supporting case that Marino or Matt had!
Good point, I am amazed as Top High School QBs avoided Pitt under Walt Harris and Dave Wannetdt nor Paul Chryst could not recruit one.

I know Tyler Palko and Flacco were Top QBs in High School, and maybe why some avoided Pitt during those years, but afterwards Pitt had to turn in Gonzales into a pretty good one and I never saw why Pitt Today Analysts Bostick never got a true shot?

I just remember Bostick coming off the Bench and won the Notre Game Game and how Wannstedt allow that that QB playing in the 0-3 loss Bowl Game after seeing how horrible he was all game long except the last 5 minutes waited way too long to put Bostick in and that was on Wannstedt!

Wannstedt is a great Pitt Alumnus and knows way more football than me, and is a Great Analysts, but that guys sickens me more than any other Pitt game in history, and only Wanntedt Arrogance and Ignorance that day caused that lost?

i still believe Palko and Bostick will make Great Head Football Coaches at Pitt someday or a QB Coaches. Palko bleeds Blue & Gold and watched films since age of 5, and coach up anyone in my opinion.

Bostick's instincts on the Radio often recede what actually happens on the field on many plays. Love listening to Bostick, Zeise and Peak with Hillgrove Announcing!

Pete did an outstanding job in his 5th year, helping pull Pitt out of the abyss in Harris' first year.

But he was no Marino or Cavanaugh for that matter.

First time I had EVER heard of Peck (the pre-World War I center) was a number of years ago (maybe 25?) when Sports Illustrated did a college football article in which they selected an all-time team for each decade of college football. Peck was the center for the 1910s. For all of college football.
