All your Peterman lovers, give me a freaking break

-38 points per game would of given us the #16 offense in the entire country last year, tied with Clemson for points per game scored. It would have been the #11 scoring offense in the country in 2014.
Technically... the offense only scored 31.

And in the Big 12 this season.... 31 points will be in the bottom half of the conference.

-That's not how total offense is judged. Its judged by team total points scored per game. All teams gets defensive TD's and Special Teams TD's.

-The Big 12 as a whole has not looked good as a conference. They are the worst P5 by a considerable margin followed by the Pac. Ok State will win a good number of games based on this a lone.

I hope I have to eat my words, but every school before us sent Canada packing for failing them.
You guys are just silly. You act like they didnt have a chance. Who do you all think they were playing? They simply did not make the plays. It happens. If you think they are so terrible do yourselves a favor and dont watch. Good grief after every loss the same people come on here and just start posting dumb ass statements.

As soon as Canada start throwing every down you all will complain about that. Last week he was a genious. This week he doesnt have a clue. Its you moronic posters who doesnt have a clue.

The Big 12 has looked poor because their defenses are non-existent.

In the Big 12... 31 points is a subpar offensive game.

I get worried because as the season goes on, I think it will get harder to move the ball and score as opposing defenses will scheme more and more against the run. We haven't shown that we can pass downfield, so why should opposing defenses spend much time scouting/defending it? Expect to see more and more loading the box, which will lead to shorter runs, and more 3rd and long plays. Peterman and his receivers have to play better if we are going to win more games.

Same conversation every year. No there is no one better. Blue chip qbs dont go to Pitt. Get over it.
Crazy i know. Especially, when schools like Houston, Louisville, S Florida, Memphis, Cincy, TCU find them all the time.

Until Pitt gets lucky and find one. Expect mediocrity

The play calling and Peterman were definitely frustrating, but the oline on pass plays have to be better also. There is always someone in there disrupting the pass play.

I expected much better pass protection out or this group.

Really? There were 3 plays the whole game.

1)Jet sweeps

2)Run up the middle

3)Peterman roll out

Let me know if I'm forgetting any others.

Matt Canada has not been impressive at all. The running game is solid but when you don't have enough confidence in your quarterback to have him throw late in the game on 3rd and 4, this team doesn't deserve to win. Absolutely pathetic.
Well you're a fool if you let peterman stand in the pocket and throw. He's looks uncomfortable AF in the pocket.

That is true. WOW, have we sucked at QB the last 10 yrs or so. just awful!

This game is on

1)Defense
2)Peterman
2)Canada

Get a clue. The guy can't throw accurately 5 yards down the field. He sucks and should be benched.

You are really demonstrating here that you have so little idea of what you're talking about, you should stop before you embarrass yourself any further.

Hmmm. Peterman seemed to be able to throw accurately down field last season when he had someone who 1) could get open, and 2) who could catch the ball. That guy is now in the NFL.

Canada's not calling many pass plays because this receiving corps cannot create separation to get open. Dontez Ford was the only moderately competent receiver who had the speed and ability to run good routes and get open. Canada knows this and therefore calls plays accordingly.

Peterman is a very average Div 1 QB. We have no one better at this moment. Marino would not be able to be successful with this receiving corps.

Peterman is limited, but he is okay. We did score 38 points. I would be more concerned with our secondary.

THIS! Levelheaded post of the day!

Only a Pitt fan would blame the offense that scored 31 points while the defense gets torched for 600+ yards.... UNBELIEVABLE.

I think Boyd made him look very good!
I wouldn't say he threw the ball accurately downfield. A guy that's now playing on sundays caught the majority of his poorly thrown balls.

Look at Peterman's last 5 games last year. He was terrible. And stop making excuses for him seriously. Canada wouldn't even let him throw on 3rd and 4. Most grandmothers would be able to complete 4 yard passes.

Dude, please read. I'm not making any excuses for him. He is not a premier college QB. He is average at best. But no QB anywhere - especially one sitting on Pitt's bench with no experience whatsoever, is going to be successful at all with this current batch of receivers. Not sure what's so hard to understand about that.

You're pretty much making my point. Having someone who can 1) get open, and 2) can catch, is paramount to making any QB look good. Case in point: The Okla St. QB yesterday. We don't have a receiver who would crack their top 6.

The D was bad, especially 2 players , but they gave us a chance to win in the 4th Q, and Canada decided to insert 3 YARDS AND DUST, and to run run run, and played right into okie hands, or did you not see that ?

I am quite baffled though that our wide outs are that bad. For how great our run game is you would think that would somehow get some guys open!
Like you said, it's both the wr's and qb.
I bet Pitt throws downfield somewhat next week. They have to.

.

Exactly, and again, reinforces my point. OSU had 8 guys in the box most of the 1st and 2nd downs and single man coverage on our WRs and we still could not get any separation on most of the pass plays. Play action helped a tad on 1st downs an, but geez, when we were 3rd and 10 and they only rushed 3, there's no way our guys were going to find any open spaces.

Will say the ok st DBs practice against stud receivers every day. That's a definite advantage for their unit. It just blew my mind how high in the air some of those passes were yet Pitt still couldn't get someone there in time.

The Ok St QB wasn't even all that good. He had some nice touch in launching it and letting his guys make a play in single coverage. And as we know many were just wide open as well. Otherwise he was less than impressive.

Chryst really bombed recruiting the QB position. Has anybody watched those two guys we lost to Vanderbilt? Brutal.

Im also not impressed with the Burns kid from Stanford, but he beat out Keller Chryst.

Wanny bombed QB recruiting also.

The issue for Pitt is that they are not a national school, and western PA doesn't produce many good QB's anymore. Even Pryor was just OK on the college level. Who was the last really good to great QB to come out of the area and light things up in college?
