am i being selfish, and short sighted,

I think we all want it. But the answers to your question depends. Do you want it no matter what? Do you want it if the numbers can be brought down? And even then people will disagree. There are full speed ahead people and I’m sure there are some who want to go back to red light stage. So YMMV.

i mean, we all pay to participate on this board. think it's safe to say we're all hoping. but not likely.

I don't want it in the fall because it will be 8 games, no fans, canceled games, and many players missing due to COVID. I am hoping for a vaccine so we can have a semi-regular season in the spring.

Holy cow, Donald and Betsy are posting here!!!!!

I am in somewhat of agreement with Donald and Betsy. The kids HAVE to be in school. Either you have them in school 2-3 days/week at the very least or you shut it down for the year and have them start 21-22 in the grade they would have been in for 20-21. Online schooling is not a viable substitute.

Now, in places where the virus is rampant, like Florida, I admit its bat$hit crazy to send the kids back to school but here in PA, they should be going back.

Not a believer in it being a hoax. On the other hand, I don’t see a desperate need to shut the world down to protect the young and healthy from Getting COVID. The at risk unhealthy are another story entirely.

IMHO, just protect and isolate the at risk and let the rest live pretty normally because for the overwhelming majority of the healthy getting infected results in a range of outcomes between being asymptomatic and having something resembling the ordinary seasonal flu. Overall, Covid appears to present the healthy with a much lower risk of death than most other hazards they encounter daily.

We live in a creative society. There ought to be a way found to free the healthy while continuing to adequately Isolate and protect the vulnerable! Sadly, it doesn’t seem anyone thinks that possible.

Nope - I do the same and am neither selfish or short-sighted. ;)
Pitt-girl, I look forward to Pitt football in the fall as well the Spring game. Not having a Spring game was rough but having no Pitt football this fall is horrible. Just have to put things into proper perspectives and try to live through this. Covid19 is real and it's not going away anytime soon. H2P!!!

They are calling for schools to be fully open, though, not what you propose. Large school districts have already announced that they plan partially opening in the fall, despite the threats from President Trump to cut their funding.

for wanting pitt fb this fall?
Nope. I just don't know what the hell to do. Already bought the season tickets for the 22nd straight year since I moved back to the Burgh.....have no desire to go sit among a crowd...even though Pitt fans have been Socially distancing for most of the past 3 decades....

I've never said it wasn't real and totally respect all the issues surrounding it. But at the same time I can wish for fall football. They're not mutually exclusive.

Unfortunately, we ignored some great ideas - from other civilized countries - so now we’re wallowing at the bottom.

Other nations set an example and provided us with a road map to fight the virus, but our impatience and stubbornness put us in the predicament that we now find ourselves. As the saying goes, “We have met the enemy, and he is us.”

Will you want a total refund or just apply it to next year? I'll let Pitt have the donation for the Panther club and receive a partial refund for tix. Maybe apply it to the basketball season but might have the same scenario play out. H2P!

Health is the most important. I’ll state the obvious first.

But beyond that, hell yes I want football. And it’s so irritating to see people doing stupid shit like cramming in a bar and jeopardizing that. Who cares about a beach trip? Do it next year. But those high risk things are going to cost us football and I’m allowed to be pissed (with that along with at China and Trump)

Ok...back to health being most important.

My God I agree with you. Not a first but a rarity

Beach trip isn't high risk if it doesn't involve dining out and going to bars. I went to the outerbanks had grocery pickup and takeout a few days. Went to the beach and had more social distancing than I ever do at home! Got home got a test just in case, was negative and now I am back around people more than I like.

Pitt sounds like they will allow you to prepay for next year and not attend

it’s likely what we are doing since my wife already declared she won’t be attending any games this year

Fair - certainly it can be done safely (or at least with lower risk). I just mentioned it because those beach trips showed up a ton in contact tracing.

I just took a lake trip where we were around 4 friends that I hadn’t been in the last 4 months. But that was it. Literally didn’t come within 6 ft of anyone else

Still think certain blue bloods are pushing every button behind the scenes to keep it alive to the very end. Nothing? I’ll believe it when I see it.

I want football. Don't care if it's being selfish. This is ridiculous. Go ahead bash me but I'm living my life. If you're afraid, lock yourself in your house . Haven't missed a beat

It's not selfish to want normalcy. It's selfish to pretend nothing is wrong and ruin the possibility.
Thx 4 being rational some are just plain foolish and ignorant. Blame those same people who don't obey the rules etc for no football this fall. Smh

I give a sh*t what they do with the money at this point in my life. I just want to go to Pitt football games.

I’ve been to many a Pitt game, (pre COVID), where I wasn’t within 6’ of anyone.
So why not....
I want fall ball as much as anyone....really, don’t see it.

Well I think all of us minus a few trolls want to see Pitt play this fall but I just dont see it happening. If you set yourself up thinking there is going to be football then your in for a big letdown. If the ncaa and nfl would come out and tell the public there won't be football now then sales for merchandise etc would plummet.

Now thinking that there won't be football and surprisingly there is then it would be a huge plus and we would be happy. :)
