he basically watched a carbon copy performance against similar competition and got the exact same result in a contest that turned on 7 points not made by the offense. He has no dog in the fight and is a rabid college football fan but said it's a pickem for next week if he bet.

I listened to the Penn State game driving home and that game was really close in the 3rd until they got a pick 6 to put them up 10. I never once really got the feeling that Pitt would lose but was disappointed we didn't open the floodgates in the second half with scoring.

Trusted friend said there were a lot of disgruntled fans in the crowd from TV at PSU and not a lot to cheer about. He said he would think Pitt wins but both teams seem very flawed. He was thoroughly impressed with Pitt's defense and thought Pitt offense is going to run wild on Penn State, chew up time but could get in trouble if Pitt tries to pass as much as run. He thought PSU was really ragged on offense but if they basically rely on Barkley to Run 75% of the time, he will shine as the best RB on the field and keep the chains moving.

He thought from 1 game, Pitt's ceiling is much higher but it won't show by week #2.

He finally conceded Pitt wins by a point and Conner bulls his way in for either a a 2 point conversion late or just a late score on a traditional TD.

Take his assessment for what it's worth but listening to second half of PSU on the radio, seemed fair.

Last year Villanova was 126 and Kent State was 162 per Sagarin before I here Kent State is FBS and has more scholarships etc..........

All my friends love psu. They all say psu is gonna win. Except that one guy, he's a bama fan right now.

Penn state is definitely a flawed team as we are working in a new qb and new offensive system. Defense will blitz, blitz and blitz and be opportunistic but is highly susceptible to mobile qb's.

We ran essentially 6 offensive plays yesterday so either we held plays back and went vanilla or we simply aren't ready to handle more. Truth, as with most things, is probably in the middle. The game, however, never felt in jeopardy. Kent got two fg's off of trick plays and their d scored another on a horrible whiff by the LT. They imploded anytime the d applied real pressure, especially with the first d. We played a ton of 2 and 3rd string players in the second half.

Game should be close next week, my biggest worry is we have been terrible on the road under Franklin and have been very very slow starters. I could see this as a 3-0 game at half time. Would be shocked if we scored a bunch in the first half. Should be fun..

That's a few minutes I'll never get back.

Who on earth gives a rats behind what your friend thought and if you read what you wrote that could be about any team.

I hope Penn states coaches are as dumb as your friend and actually think pitts, play calling is what they will get this week

Probably first time I ever liked a nitter post... I didn't watch any of the Penn state game but I assume they did what we did and went ultra vanilla. Despite what their retarded coach says (yes, I literally think he is mildly retarded), this is the biggest rivalry gamete have and are both of our bowl game this year. Win and this season is a success lose and who the hell cares about the rest.

Will be a close game even if one team sucked and the other was great. That's not the case so will be a tense mess of a game

Psu oline still quite leaky. Their qb was picking himself up off the ground quite a bit due to that vaunted Golden Flashes defense. I'm certain nearly getting the new qb killed was not part of the psu gameplan

What would you call a power running attack with solid backs and a veteran offensive line........that can't rush for over 100 yards against a 1AA team.

I would call that flawed. Only one game but PSU and all of their flaws doesn't mean they won't beat Pitt Saturday.

If these teams played 10 times it would probably be 5-5. I wouldn't be shocked if Pitt won by 10 or the Nitters won by 14

Anybody concerned about that junior high school field goal kicking unit. I am because it's most likely going to be a close game and our place kicker is unreliable

PSU's new OC looked much better than Pitt's in Week 1 against similar competition, their QB can throw deep well enough for their WR's to go up and get it, and their kicker hits field goals. And Barkley is read to go. Conner isn't.

Pitt's pass rush and Whitehead will basically have to win the game.

Lucky for you, Peterman isn't that mobile. The blitz may be very effective against Pitt.

PSU scored 3 offensive TDs, only 2 when the game wasnt decided (they scored an irrelevant one with a minute left). They went from 8:02 left in the 2nd through 1:00 in the game without a TD.

Their O was just as bad.
