"It would actually be Rutgers, Pitt, USF, Virginia Tech and Purdue right now," Hewitt said.
Hewitt is looking to make a summer decision, one that he hopes will take place before the start of his senior year.
"I could commit on a visit, but I am not really sure," Hewitt said. "I want to talk to my whole family about it before I commit."
Rutgers is not the only Big Ten program to have offered Hewitt as Purdue and Indiana are among the group of 14 schools who have offered.
"I have always wanted to play in the Big Ten," Hewitt said. "I think it would be real exciting to do. There is a lot of competition and a lot of exposure."
The Rutgers curriculum also features Hewitt's intended major, which is another plus for the Scarlet Knights.
"I want to study kinesiology and sports medicine when I am in college and I know Rutgers has a very good program in that," Hewitt said. "That really intrigued me about the whole university."
