At 8-4; where will Pitt be bowling?

Where will they be bowling? Somewhere not as nice as it could have been.

Assuming Clemson, ND and NC or FSU are in the New Years six and playoff. Russell Athletic takes NC or FSU. Miami now favorite for the preferred Taxslayer or Music City Slot -- leaving Pitt, NC St and either Louisville or Va Tech for the other 3 bowls in the second tier. NCSU and the Belk are an obvious match. As stated above the Pinstripe appears to be the favorite unless the New Yorkers desire a Beamer sendoff and then we are headed to El Paso for the Sun Bowl.

Pitt vs. PSU in Pinstripe. With the team records it makes sense. Plus the slots are reserved for ACC vs. BigTen. Just makes sense

It'd be a sellout and a ratings bonanza, but yes PSU would decline because Hack would probably get sacked 10 times.

I'm hoping for Pitt vs Wisconsin in the pinstripe.

Love to play against Coach Bratwurst.

It won't be PSU. Big Ten has a rule about not sending a team to the same bowl two years in a row.

That's true. I'm not sure what other BigTen team would even qualify outside Wisc or PSU. Northwestern maybe?

Pitt versus Wisky or Northwestern.

With today's loss, I want the easiest win to get to nine. It wouldn't be easy in the Bronx though it would be fun to watch.

Can't go two years in a row!! Forget that matchup...

Yes they can. The Pinstripe has to pick at least 5 different teams in the 6 year contract. Technically, PSU could go 2 years in a row, but they obviously will not agree to that.

The Pinstripe would be foaming at the mouth for Pitt/PSU but it wont happen. They wantez it last year but PSU told them they aint coming if Pitt was the opponent so they had to take BC.

There's still some games left to decide whete Pitt will end up. Here's what I do know.

It absolutely wont be the Belk. That has NCSU written all over it.

It wont be the Music City. They can only take 2 more ACC teams or ND in the next 5 yeara so they arent going to waste a year on a team who travels as poorly as Pitt. If they pick an ACC team, it will be nearby Louisville. They can also choose a B10 team and this is where PSU ends up.

It'll be either the Sun, Pinstripe, Gator.

There's some thought that the Miami players would not want a bowl game in Jacksonville since most are from Florida and considering they have a strong bandwagon fanbase in NY/NJ, they could opt for the Pinstripe.

What that means is that if Louisville beats UK, they probably go to the Gator and we go to the Sun. If they lose, we go and Duke to the Sun.

FWIW, a player's parent told me today they are going to the Gator.

I would love the Gator.... but I think that's a very big long shot. I'd put it like this:

50% - Pinstripe
25% - Sun
15% - Gator
5% - Music City
5% - Belk

I think Pitt vs Wisconsin in the Pinstripe would be a great matchup. I'd love to take on Coach Moose Lodge.

I think its up to Miami. If Miami wants NYF, that's where they will be. Then its either Gator or Sun for us.

I hate the anti-climactic noon Jan 2 kick for the Gator but Dec 26 for the Sun or Pinstripe isnt much better.

From the Cheap Seats; just me, but I can't imagine why anyone would want to spend Boxing Day at an out door football game in NYC.

The poll on Miami's SB Nation site has the Gator and Pinstripe tied at 37%. I have a feeling the Canes will choose NYC.

Does a strong bandwagon fanbase mean they will sell four tickets instead of three?

There is no bowl out there that picks Miami because Miami fans will buy tickets. Miami fans are even worse at that than Pitt fans.

I'd love the Gator, especially since I have good friends in Jacksonville.

But I'm thinkin it is time to buy Megabus tickets, because we're going to the Bronx.

I think Pitt lost some leverage not getting to 9. They still should end up in tier 1 (but may not be their first choice) but a little more sketchy now.

Only way we get Tier 2 is if the ACC/ND only get 1 NY6 bowl and NCSU beats UNC to get to 8-4. Its possible but you pretty much need all of the following to happen for us to get Tier 2:

NCSU over UNC
Stanford over ND
Florida over FSU
Clemson over UNC

If all 4 of those things happen, its Detroit, Shreveport, or Annapolis

If you're the New York Yankees, do you pick Miami or Pitt? Neither team travels well at all. And you better believe The U will turn on more TV sets than Pitt on Dec 26 at 3:30 on ABC.

More than that, Miami sells more "casual fan" tickets from locals and more fans may make the trip from the B10W school to watch their team play The U.

If Miami wants the Pinstripe, that's where they'rw going.

Oh please no, not Detroit or Shreveport or Annapolis. That would truly suck. 8-4 and end up at 1 of those crappy spots??

What would be so bad about the Independence Bowl? Shreveport sucks but Pitt fans dont go, so what does that matter? Its an SEC opponent, a somewhat traditional bowl game, and played during Bowl Week, which Pitt very seldom plays their bowl.

But, like I said, 4 things need to happen for that.

Since the TaxSlayer is about out the window, I'm hoping for the Pinstripe. Screw playing Penn State though. They're not worthy of our time.

Unfortunately we were in line for one of the $ 2 mill-$3mill bowls but it seems like we dropped down significantly to the same type of bowls that we went to when we were 6-6 like $ 1 mill - 1.5 mill bowls.
That's more than pocket change for me!

Where do I start?

1. The bowl payouts are irrelevant to Pitt. They get an equal share of bowl/CFP money. How did you not know that?

2. At 8-4 or 9-3, Pitt was going to the same Tier 1 Bowl. The loss yesterday was irrelevant for bowl purposes. Its either the Gator, Pinstripe, or Sun.
