At 8-4; where will Pitt be bowling?

Bowl payouts don't matter. The ACC splits all bowl revenue evenly among all 14 teams.

Syracuse will make as much from the bowls as Clemson will.

Merry Christmas to All!

Where do I start?

1. The bowl payouts are irrelevant to Pitt. They get an equal share of bowl/CFP money. How did you not know that?

2. At 8-4 or 9-3, Pitt was going to the same Tier 1 Bowl. The loss yesterday was irrelevant for bowl purposes. Its either the Gator, Pinstripe, or Sun.[/QUOTE]

I agree. Frankly, there's a real chance yesterday meant nothing to our bowl hopes. As you have said SMF, the real games that matter this weekend for Pitt are FSU and ND winning...although, I think ND might stay top 11 even with a loss.

I think Miami is going to NYC, and Pitt still has a very legit chance at the Gator Bowl. Sun Bowl also a real possibility, maybe the favorite at this point.

If teams in one conference all go to higher level bowls isn't the total to share higher?

It's kind of like the posts where people ask why they haven't announced the game time yet for some game that is six weeks into the future. The number of people who don't really pay much attention, and therefore have no clue, is a lot higher than one would think.

Yea, but the thing I never understand is how someone can be so "nerdy" to post on a message board or call a talk show but not be nerdy enough to understand basic college sports concepts.

If you're the New York Yankees, do you pick Miami or Pitt? Neither team travels well at all. And you better believe The U will turn on more TV sets than Pitt on Dec 26 at 3:30 on ABC.

More than that, Miami sells more "casual fan" tickets from locals and more fans may make the trip from the B10W school to watch their team play The U.

If Miami wants the Pinstripe, that's where they'rw going.

Disagree about us not traveling to NY. There were 7-8k Pitt fans at both Big East Championship Games and I plan to bring 4 or 5 to the Bronx if that's where we land.

I personally want Florida. Will be taking 6 tickets and staying in Orlando for a week!

Orlando, is a good call and drive up. Ive never heard anything posiive or enticing about hanging out in Jacksonville for a week.

I was at a couple of those. I'd estimate 5-6K but thats for some of the best Pitt teams ever.

Miami's alumni base is mostly in the NE. The will travel better to NYC.

Its Jax or El Paso for us.

I really think Miami will opt to NOT go north. I'd like Jax against Miss. State or El Paso against UCLA..... but I think we're getting Bronx against Wisky.

Maybe but there is some thought they dont want Jacksonville. As for Wisky? How the heck do you see them falling that far? No way.

Look at the B1G standings.... who goes to the Pinstripe? It *WOULD* be PSU based on B1G standings.... but it can't be PSU this year.

I think PSU and Wisconsin swap bowl slots.

That makes most sense to me. These bowls know what goes on in college football, they know Chryst was our coach last season. Pitt-Wisconsin has got to sound better to them than Pitt vs. any other team we have no history against. Granted, it's not the matchup that bowls will be killing to have come to their stadiums, but it's the best that the Pinstripe can realistically come up with.

Wisconsin won't fall to the Pinstripe. With their win tonight over Minnesota, I think they are going to the Holiday Bowl.

Looks like 3 big 10 teams likely for NY6 bowls (playoff, Rose will take loser of championship game, and Ohio state will be an at large). If that happens, Michigan will go to citrus, probably northwestern to Outback, Wisconsin to holiday, PSU to Music City. The only other bowl eligible team right now is Indiana, who could go to pinstripe, or Foster farms bowl. Big 10 won't fill all their spots, but zero chance Wisconsin would drop below Indiana in bowl order.

Maybe Pitt-Nebraska in pinstripe? 5-7 big 10 teams are gonna be bowling...

May get a PAC 12 team in NY. They have three extras. Whisky is going west.

Jerry Palm has Pitt falling to the Military Bowl. I don't see how that can happen, can it? Don't forget that Va. Tech might be the hottest ticket seller out of the ACC and I'm sure NYC would love to have his final game and VT's fans in the Bronx. The Belk Bowl may want them too but NC State is also a good option there. I see Miami in the Gator and Pitt in the Sun if the Pinstripe committee wants Beamer.

So long as both FSU and ND make NY6 bowls, which seems like 90% likely right now, Pitt cannot fall to a Tier 2 bowl, even if VT moves up to a Tier 1. That's my understanding, and I trust the guys who cover ACC football for a living.

Pitt and Miami will be in tier 1 bowls. VT probably. The last spot is up for grabs between Lville, Duke, and NC State.

A real shame that VT get's a "Tier 1" bowl, no matter how you spin it. It is a microcosm of what really drives college football.

Jimmy wants no part of PITT during the healing process! The BIG10 will shield them and they will go elsewhere even with this being a terrific matchup.

Pitt can only be jumped by 7-5 teams into tier one. So thats that. Vtech to military makes more sense. Jerry has put pitt into the military for the past month or so; id consider his projection to be an outlier; especially since there are mistakes on other teams in other conferences.

Plus the whole 5-7 mess
