3 on 5. Fede is a zero on offense, also.
Austin had 9. Jorge disappeared again.
Well, fwiw, it's not like the coach has made an effort to get something out of him. I felt we should have been running some sets in the first 4 games to *try* to get some interior offense. Yes, it was great to win the first 4 like we did, but you also have to think bigger. Clearly, we are not going to get where we want to go just relying on Bub, Blake and Ish. And I agree that expectations have come down given how soundly we were beaten tonight.Yea, Fede's offensive game hasn't evolved like I hoped it would. This is still a good team, just not as good as we hoped it might be.
Would be nice if Marlon Barnes was something closer to being in the vicinity of the other two freshmen.

Were we really soundly beaten tonight such that expectations are significantly reduced? Yeah looking at the final score you might think so. But it just seemed like they had a stretch in the 2nd half where they let the game get out of hand…bad shots, rushed shots, forced or careless turnovers, missed FTs.Well, fwiw, it's not like the coach has made an effort to get something out of him. Lowe can improve and can take some pressure and minutes off the main guns. I would expect some quality time against OSU, Mizz, and WVU. Maybe not Clemson, but let him play against the other P5. UF also landed some good young bigs. Kante would help. But bad luck with the young big hitting that 3 at end of half. You cant rely on freshmen. Pitt got a little lucky with Carrington. Look at Florida. They brought in the MAAC and Big West players of the year in the backcourt.

I hope you're right and we learn and grow from this. But you can't just discount what *did* happen. We were outscored by 25 after the 19-10 start. This game exposed our shortcomings and played out how I feared it might. We have no inside game, lack physicality, and have only 3 legit scoring threats. The opponent's blueprint will be to focus on Bub and Blake and force others to beat them. We're going to need more from other guys if we expect a return trip to the NCAA's this year. Were we really soundly beaten tonight such that expectations are significantly reduced? Before that stretch in the 2nd half where they let the game get out of hand, they pretty much went toe to toe with Florida, particularly in the 1st half. Again, some carelessness at the end of the 1st half which quickly turned an almost entire 1st half lead into a 5-pt deficit.
If not for the ugly stretch of the 2nd half that put the game out of hand, there was really only one thing that swung things in the favor of Florida…a guy named Clayton that Pitt didn’t have an answer for. Samuel had his moments during that ugly stretch but Clayton was the primary difference maker.
Rather than putting a big damper on expectations, I’m hoping it’s just a good learning experience for the overall team not to mention the young guys like Carrington, Lowe, Austin.

ah yes, Papa's vast playing experience would've been better than the guys 4 and 3 years older and stronger than him respectively. I keep seeing this on twitter, how can anyone comment as to what Kante would've helped us with last night. No one has seen him play a college game.Kante would have helped us last night. We were exposed down low!
HIs highlights show a physical presence that we do not have at the 5 currently. DG and FF have no ability to hold their position and constantly get pushed out of position. PK played against some good bigs at EE. I realize he has not played in college but he is way more of a post player than FF or DG.ah yes, Papa's vast playing experience would've been better than the guys 4 and 3 years older and stronger than him respectively. Maybe he wouldn’t have helped, but you never know. It's a moot point. He's injured. Injuries happen. No one knows what he could've contributed or if he would've even been given the opportunity to contribute. Our 3rd string freshmen center would not have been worth 15 points. It's an absolutely insane thing to even mention.Maybe he wouldn’t have helped, but you never know. Fair point, and I’m not saying he would’ve been worth that much. I’m kind of annoyed seeing people wonder “what if” with Dior… just move on. Maybe Kante will be a pleasant surprise next year, but yeah let’s just focus on what we have this year. Guys can always improve throughout the year. It's a moot point. He's injured. Injuries happen. Correct. Saying what if with Dior is just as pointless as Kante. They are not availableFair point, and I’m not saying he would’ve been worth that much. He would have been another body to throw in there. Felt like both Fede and Guillermo got pretty passive when they started to pick up some fouls. Maybe Kante being a guy that you could actually put in there would have allowed the other two guys to sustain more assertive defense for longer.ah yes, Papa's vast playing experience would've been better than the guys 4 and 3 years older and stronger than him respectively. Yeah, he didn't develop anything. Get to post demand the ball and have a little turn around, a little ball fake power dribble and up, not even a baby hook which is a pretty simple shot. How about a 10ft baseline jumper? Austin needs to get more involved too. It has to be Jorge. He needs 10pt 6reb. They are too easy to defend.Yea, Fede's offensive game hasn't evolved like I hoped it would. This is still a good team, just not as good as we hoped it might be.

Samuel’s a tough matchup for our personnel, though. Almost would have been better for us if their starting center didn’t get hurt. Felt like Fede and G matched up better against him than they did when they put Samuel down there as that small ball 5. Would have liked to keep Samuel closer to the perimeter.

Not nearly as much as our interior defense. That spot is holding this team back. Those guys contributions in other ways but we are playing 4 on 5 on offense. Not sure there's any other answer though. Maybe Lowe improves and we can play Carrington at SG and Leggett at SF.
really ? Have you seen him play yet ?Kante would have helped us last night. We were exposed down low!
He’s injured so noreally ? Have you seen him play yet ?
Holding them back on one end of the floor but helping significantly on the other. For spacing purposes Austin has to start hitting those open looks. The points he got the other night weren’t the problem. The problem for me is that he doesn’t look like a guy who can go off for 20 points on a night that Blake or Ish doesn’t haven’t it. He’s really fighting his shot right now. He’s not going to ever be a 40% guy from beyond the arc with that hitch. But he needs to be a 30% guy and that hasn’t been near the case. That spot is holding this team back. Those guys contributions in other ways but we are playing 4 on 5 on offense. Good comparison of Austin to Sibande. Zach appears to want to play defense and mix it up. What is he, 6'4" tops? Plays much taller. Greg seemed more the wing player who mostly want to shoot the 3 with little else (certainly not meant as a rap on Elliot)Good to see Austin find his shot again. He was a streaky shooter last year. I view him more as a replacement to Nike than Elliott. Nike also had a slowish start from three his first 5-6 games last year. But if we can get a consistent .30 plus from from Austin this team will be well balanced. Jeffress needs to make free throws in his limited offensive minutes.
