Austin Johnson leaves for NFL without consulting Franklin either

He thanked Franklin? Link?

Here ya go pitt-girl.

And according to the PG on 12/30/15, Austin Johnson did consult James Franklin.

Johnson weighs options

Penn State redshirt junior Austin Johnson has a decision to make in the coming weeks. While the NFL draft advisory committee gave this defensive tackle a projected round, Johnson declined to share what the specifics of his evaluation were.
“There’s so many things you can get better at,” Johnson said, adding that he hasn’t made a decision about a potential NFL future. “There’s no point in football you can reach where you can’t get better at something, so there’s always room for improvement.”
Johnson recorded 13 tackles for a loss, 5½ sacks, 70 tackles and returned a fumble for a touchdown this season. He is a projected early round pick and has until mid-January to make a decision. Johnson met with his mom, Franklin and Spencer before the bowl game to lay out a plan about his future.

I get that. I just have no clue how a parent can fall for that stuff.

The kids and parents who fall for this act are those who dont have an academic future or life after HS sports!
They're the ones ( parents and kids) who get sucked into the college sports don't worry we'll take care of everything messaging. Sometimes its the parents hoping for an economic miracle.
Like a previous poster mentioned sometimes the kids have more common sense than the parents.
Lots of really good liars/salesman in college sports. Truth in advertising doesn't exist in that business.
If they were selling cars or other consumer related products they probably would be in jail
Remember HS coaches are in it for the kids they're not getting rich on the other hand U coaches are getting rich which is fine and most of the time aren't in it for the kids!
You have to know what you're buying!

Newsflash....not all players like their coach. Do you think Jamal Davis, Pat Amara, and Chris James loved Pat Narduzzi? I bet not. From the games I seen that Hackenberg played, he should have simply thanked Franklin for not benching him. I think a lot of recruits and players love Franklin and a lot will love Narduzzi.

Smart kid reading a prepared statement which will help him get to the next level.
Any organization including NFL teams like team oriented employees??
Once he gets there the truth will come out or maybe not!

Robinson saw the writing on the wall at PSU just like Boyd at Pitt.Robinson knew that the line was going to be horrible at PSU the next year.Believe me players know who's good and who's not and how its going to effect the team. This being known he did what was best for himself. He didn't leave because of Franklin,he didn't know him!Boyd saw his stock drop this year because of the way he was used in Narduzzi's offense. Both knew it was time to get out of Dodge! Here again neither left because of a coach. So someone on here knows Spense and what he's going to do!Hmmmmm I sort of know him too!
Agree, it is fair, Jesse James did thank Franklin and there is always some questions when Head Coaches changes. Franklin deserves having just his Players in the pipeline before he gets full judgment of his coaching at Penn State. He only stayed at Vandy a few years too! His problem is is how he does against the Big Ten Coaches & Programs, and that is tough to gauge right now but so far not so good!

Carl Nassib is a very good special player and will do well in the NFL. Franklin is hard not to like if one ever meets him, but he has to win more at Penn State against Top Coaches & Programs, and that is not known right now?

Narduzzi is focused on just what he has to do to make Pitt better and has to do it with less resources that Franklin has at Penn State Program.

Both paid millions I say let them do their jobs and the Universities will judge them whether 8 to 9 to 10 wins are enough that I expect from both of them soon!

Lost in the QB guy leaving and ripping Franklin, Their DT did the same thing, pretty obvious there are some issues in slappy valley
He's leaving because he's a stud and stud DL are golden in the League. He's better than Zettel was last year and he almost came out early. I just love that Hack went out of his way to throw James from State College under the big blue school bus!!!

But honestly, does anybody really believe Franklin wanted Hack back? Franklin has played that dog & pony show two years in a row, trotting the golden boy out there trying to fit a square peg in a round whole.

Both parties would have been better suited if Hackenberg parted ways after his freshman year. PSU would probably be a little further along in the rebuilding process.

I'm not suprised CH didn't thank James Franklin. While I don't think Franklin would ever throw Hack out the door, I bet he wasn't exactly putting down a welcome mat for next year either.

So the next excuse for Franklins poor record is the 5 star quarterback? That's rich

Yes... Jimbo wanted that QB back no doubt about it.

Yeah.... we really didnt want Boyd back either right?? He was catching too many balls and making the rest of our players look bad

Apples & Oranges. Try to add a more relevant analogy to the conversation.

OMG i got to ask is this your job, no one can respond with so much detail much detail so much of which is bullshit.

He didn't thank Franklin and he did not thank offensive line coach Herb Hand either. If I'm quarterback of that team with that pathetic excuse of an offensive line they had (insert the token "sanctions" excuse here) I'm not thanking those bozos either. For his sake he can be glad he didn't get knocked out until the final game he played.

Remember when Temple was dropping him like a fly and Franklin left him in ALL GAME to take that beating till the last second? If he had any respect for his starting quarterback he would have been pulled. I would say that was the day that any respect Hackenberg still had for Franklin went out the window.

And there still get 4 star Running backs and quarterbacks and now online men?
I think we Pitt need to stop worrying about their successes and start creating our own.

Sorry I've been a Oitt follower for years but am new to this board and am amazed at the psi focus.

wow... you are certainly not a Pitt grad, your sentences make absolutely no sense

No. If PSU had the horses upfront to protect him and had a consistent running game, it would be different. However, they don't, and Hack makes Pat Bostwick look mobile.
What you say might have merit, but when does it ever become Franklin's fault? All I hear are excuses, excuses, excuses. It gets tiring reading it. It must be exhausting thinking them up too for every scenario.

LMAO. I've never met a player that loved his coach and I played at a level I'm sure multi times higher than u.
After the ( a ) in the sentence highlighted in RED above you forgot to enter LOW.
That would make that part of the sentence read like this:

I played at a low level

Happy New Year Nitter Loser! But I doubt it for you!

Sorry at a red light but why does 50 percent of our posts center around penn state?

We now compete with Clemson and Florida State not penn state.

I promise you their fan base dreams of beating osu not Pitt because in today's world if they beat osu they kill Pitt.

Does that make any sense, again emailing between red lights lol?
So let's focus on Clemson they are an ACC team in the finals, no big10, thats the competition! They are beginning to recruit nationally sovwe must as well.

The question is do we want to win the state or win the country?

Wait WHAT? You've never met a player that loved his coach.

I've seen some whoppers on this site over the years. But my man, I think you just took the cake. That's some high level, enormous BS.

Why are people on here so interested in assigning fault to a coach of another team?

Because usually that is the first person that is blamed for missteps. As it should - they are after all the CEO. But not at PSU. It's anything or anyone but him. Fascinating actually.

Not a day goes bay without PSU talking About Pitt on BWI Boards and Pitt still ahead of PSU in categories Penn State the Little Brother has been chasing for the entire History of CFB. They have always been obsessed with Pitt and now with Big Ten Programs that have Richer Histories too!

I know both Universities very well and their Football Programs even more, and Penn State has always been upset with anyone that has done better than them!

Penn State has the bigger Resources Program now but Pitt still still has te Richer History and far better Quality Players Award Record Breaking in CFB & NFL History as well.

Pitt was curing Polio as an University when Penn State did not have University status, the younger Land Grant College has always been jealous of Pitt?

And I do not blame Penn State for building a Great Program built on NCAA Rules Breaking and Non-Compliances, and still chasing Pitt Records and Players Accomplishments of Autumn!

Up to Pitt to make the Pitt Football Program better too, no one else, and I have always put that on Pitt. Penn State has also put in 116 Reforms to make sure they will have full compliance in the future unlike what happen under Paterno Era! Both need to do better now too!
