A lot of this is skewed heavily by schedules. If you're in the SEC West and recruiting in the 20s but playing teams that recruiting 1-15, it likely isn't going to translate as well as being in the BIG West and recruiting 35th while playing against teams that recruit 40 - 55.

While true, a lot of schools that are falling to the left side of that graph also have a propensity to schedule some cupcakes and/or have relatively easier schedules, in terms of their recruiting.
