Backyard Brawl returning 2022

Excellent. Very much looking forward to it. Kind of greedily wish Pitt had the last home game v. either PSU or WVU in these four games series. But, no matter, should be outstanding. Gonna be bizarre to see them as a non conference foe.
Great, now the hoopies are going to crawl back to the board to joke on the Pittsburgh accent. I'm sure this will really impact the lives of many...
Pitt PSU and WVU all scheduling each other again. Sounds like some new administrators are a little worried about attendance.

Common sense decision. Hopefully, they renew the Backyard Brawl full-time shortly thereafter and make it an annual Thanksgiving affair.
If it were up to me, and the other sides were amenable to it, I'd play West Virginia and Penn State on an annual basis. Penn State is the clear priority of the two but we are lucky to have two passionate rivalries and we would be foolish to not embrace each of them.

I could be wrong, but I'd guess that our scheduling is 100% dependent on when the ACC tells us to play our ACC games. So if we've already got Thanksgiving weekend tied to the ACC, then Pitt would have no choice in the matter.
There is an exception for Florida-Florida State; I see no reason why there couldn't be one for Pitt-Penn State
I'm not going to sit here and suggest that the pittsburgh-ese accent is remotely attractive or sounds intelligent.

Clemson-So Carolina & Ga Tech-Georgia too. I don't think the ACC would have any problem letting Pitt have that weekend for an annual OOC game vs PSU or WVU.
I prefer the randy WVU fans to the smug Nittany Lion patrons. I'll admit that. I've been to some games there... Pretty rough but I've had good times. Again, glad it's back and envious that the 'Eers have Pitt and PSU on their slate in the same year in '22 and '23.
Edit: I think Pitt/PSU playing late has something to do with the B1G. I don't believe any of 'em schedule any non conference games late in the season. The ACC and SEC differ in that regard.
What's funny Kenny is that I'm actually from the Pittsburgh area and once spoke Pittsburghese quite fluently.

What am I rationalizing? I'm using facts. Pitt fired the guy immediately after he was arrested. He never coached a game or did anything beside meet with the team once. The comment was Pitt gets rid of the problems, he didn't say we haven't had any. We've kicked a lot of kids off of teams who have broken rules or committed crimes.
An underage kid having barely any alcohol in his system probably isn't a kick off the team offense at most schools...if underage drinking defines thugs, what does that say about the WVU student body in general? I'm sure you never drank underage.
WVU players, and especially their fans, ARE heathens. Do you not realize the reputation you have nationally? What Pitt coach (that has coached a game) has been a known drunken gambler who spent multiple years living out of a hotel? When did our fans throw batteries at opposing coaches during a nationally televised basketball game? Have we ever resorted to arson to celebrate a victory (or a loss)?
By the way, is WVU relevant? Since when is losing in the Liberty Bowl after a 7-5 season a badge of honor? Not to mention 4-8 the year before and 7-6 before that. Hi pot, meet kettle.
As I said earlier, I am a strong advocate of the return of the Backyard Brawl. However, the Pitt fans' complaints about the behavior of the West Virginia fans are well-founded.
I have been everywhere - including Morgantown (many times) - and I have seen behavior there that I have never seen anywhere else.
They must get their house in order or this will be a one-off series. Personally, I would like to see it returned as a fixture to our schedule. However, I would also like to bring my little boys to that game without feeling as though we are in some sort of peril.

Yeah, women and children shouldn't go to WVU as visiting fans. WVU fans cannot and will not act in a civilized manner.
I imagine our new AD will learn that the hard way.
