They are putting in data limit caps. I mean that makes sense. Years ago I posted that eventually this would happen as everyone got so excited for these cheap streaming tv options.

Maybe its time for some of you to break up with Comcast. I know you love them and its hard but you can actually move to another provider, save money, and get Pitt sports on the ACCN. Im not sure what else some of you need? You guys sure are loyal to someone ripping you off every month and not even giving you Pitt sports.

This is their way of combating streaming like YouTube etc. Those services will eat up internet like nobodies business.

Luckily there are other options out there. They will die a quick death unless other internet providers, namely Verizon Fios, start doing the same thing.

But there aren't other options for a large percentage of their customers. 20-30% of all Americans don't have a 2nd option and most only have wireless or DSL as their 2nd option. It's like saying a 7/11 is an option for a grocery store.

They have had the cap for awhile. At least 4-5 years the problem now since everybody is home. Its pretty hard to reach the max. We have been streaming for 4-5 years and never went over. Thats with working from home and kids ipads always on.

What other industries in this country have the 2 largest providers only overlapping 1% of their total customers?

Tough for those people for sure. Luckily we don't have such a problem here in Pittsburgh.

Comcast has delayed implementing it in the Northeast after threats from the Massachusetts legislature and the PA Atty General for two over profiteering during the pandemic.
It was supposed to take effect in March with Jan and Feb being grace months and then one more *wild card* month during the year.

Right now,on my property,I have no options unless I want to pay Verizon 20k to dig up my yard and run Fibre 200 feet. Then what if they decide to implement a cap ?

T-Mobile 5-G unlimited for home use is becoming available for around 50 bucks. You can get Comcast for 50 bucks and use your own router/modem.
I also know that around 2012 they had an *unofficial* cap of around 250 GB. You might have received a notice, maybe not. One of my good friends from working with them when they were getting up and running is still in Tech management.

I find it strange Pitt has so many diehard fans who will post on a message board but not switch their TV provider so they can actually watch the team play.
Maybe people like to post here with other people from their same university.

With all due respect SMF......I'll keep comcast for the time being. I have my reasons.

I sign up with Sling for around 40 bucks a month during football and basketball season. And comcast carries ATT sports which some dish providers don't. I am banking on Comcast picking up ACCN by the end of this year.

My current internet provider is AT&T because I have no choice at my current residence. I can't wait to get back with Comcast. I've had At&t at two different residences and their service was trash at both locations. I've had so much bandwidth issues with AT&T, yet they wanna claim that I'm on "Fiber"....when it probably really is just DSL.

If you're happy with Comcast internet, then keep it. No need to change. I'll be back with them as soon as I move.

Aside from not carrying ACCN, Comcast’s technology is pretty amazing. Basically their platform is integrated with everything (Amazon, YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ coming soon). It’s pretty amazing technology.

I have AT&T fiber for three or four years, and have had no complaints.

I switched last February and then there was nothing on ACCN for month. Comcast keeps calling to get me back. I answer and tell them I will switch back when they carry the ACCN.

My tcl has it as the platform os-
It’s slick

Got a Roku Ultra this year and it's almost perfect

The only thing I don't like is all of the preset buttons that come on the remote. I was constantly hitting a button for something I didn't have like Hulu or Fubo and there was no way to disable them. I ended up physically cutting them out.

Most people won’t even come close to the CAP. We cut the cable and don’t even come close to that number. We are always streaming multiple devices sometimes multiple 4K streams. . We are heavy users of the internet with typically 45-50 devices connect at a time on my WiFi. The highest we ever came to the cap was 974 GB which is a whole 300 GB below the cap.

My thought exactly. Roku is the perfect platform for streaming.
I have Comcast and also 2 TVs with Roku. At our 2nd house we have DirecTV (this is how I can watch ACCN). Comcast’s X1 platform blows them all away. Sorry. They just do. I can’t stand their customer service, I will give you that. Trust me, I was all about satellite for many years until DirecTV’s technology fell behind. Gave YouTube TV and Fubo a run at different times too. Comcast is the winner.

Yea, it makes no sense why someone would spend so much time posting about their favorite team on an internet message board but cannot take a very simple an easy step to actually watch the team play. It is beyond strange.

Its like, hey, you can save a little money per month and get to watch Pitt. "Nah, I'd rather pay more to not watch them but I'm such a huge fan I will post on a message board about them but as for watching them, thanks but no thanks."

I will give you that. However, the Roku platform isn't very far off.

I tried to watch the Pitt BB game today, but the antenna motor couldn't rotate the antenna to the right angle. That and I needed a gumband between the UHF and VHF dials to get the channel to tune.
You kid, but the truth is that OTA viewing through an antenna offers better tv viewing than both cable and streaming. The quality is superb.

Plus cable and streaming is delayed. I've seen delay ranges from 10 secs to a minute. It's funny when I switch between input devices while watching a game and see the time difference on the game clock.

Add in the DVR and the delay is even worse. While watching a game sometimes I have to turn off my phone because the alerts drive me nuts. I know it a friend texting if something good or bad happened.

At the price though? I don't love Sling's interface but it gets me everything I need for 40 a month. My internet (a 45 dollar Fios plan) plus sling costs me about 85 a month. I get local channels with an HD antenna.

I have in the past, had Cable/Internet through many different sources. I hate Comcast's arrogance and cost, but they have been by far the most stable provider. The fact that I have access to ACC Network through other means and I am willing to pay for it, I don't need to "cut" just because some millennial thinks it is the right thing to do.

Internet speeds that allow streaming aren't a given for everyone. It's surprising how underserved a lot of this country is when it comes to internet. Even Indiana, PA has holes in its service which is pretty mind boggling. I had to do some research for a proposal last year. It's amazing how many people just don't have options.
