BASEBALL (3/25/17) - Pitt sweeps Virginia Tech

Pitt beat VT in a doubleheader today to sweep the 3 game weekend series .... we won the games 9-5, 8-2, and 3-2.

Pitt is now 11-10 overall and 4-5 in the ACC.

Last weekend Tech took 2 of 3 from #1 (at the time) Florida State in Blacksburg, including a 17-0 blank-job.

They did hit a lot of HRs this series, but Pitt pitching got out of a lot of jams in the 3 games. I think VT is #1 in the country in number of homers.

Played really well and the weather was great. We were really worried about containing their offense, they came in with some gaudy numbers, but the pitching staff really came through

Let's worry about making the ACC baseball tourney first, which we never have yet. Oh wait, I think this year they have adjusted the tourney so EVERYONE makes it, not totally sure though.

No, they don't. They expanded the tournament to 12 teams this year but that still means that two get left home.

There are 14 baseball teams and 12 make the ACC tournament.

The ACC had 10 teams make the NCAA Tournament last year which was an all-time ACC record ..... not sure how many ACC teams will make the NCAA Tournament this year.
